PCV?

Post by 69NH-2000 »

Pulled the hose to check the valve and there is nothing there. I went to the local auto supplies shop and bought one to install. The shops book referenced this PCV but it’s quite obvious that the new one is not going to fit, huge thread unit.

Supposed to be one? If so should the valve friction fit into the 3 bolt sleeve/tube on the cover and then the tube clamps to the valve itself? Right now the hose is barley attaching to the short sleeve/tube on the cover w/o PCV.

I was also going to replace the vent hose (#165-40) I think that is part number or vendor supply number. The correct tube should be shaped so not to kink or rub the hood, correct?

To PCV or not to PCV, that is the question...

For the Roadster, the answer is not. Go down to your friendly Nissan store, or your friendly Vendor website and order up the hose. The good news is that the 2000 hose should be delivered with a better version of the mounting that is taller and has a rib so that the hose will not slip off. Now, you may get the solex version - don't despair if you have SUs. Just cut off the last 90 degree bend and it fits like a glove.

That part number is Rallye's part number. I don't have the Nissan part number at my finger tips, but if you need it, I will be happy to look it up. Just let me know.

No valve, just a vent. In my book that is way better than a valve because there is less restriction for the air to escape, and there for less crank case pressure. Hose, you don't need no stinkin hose... seriously you can go with a K&N breather filter, or just run no hose.
