67 dash in a 68 roadster

Post by hport »

This is something that I've been thinking about since 67's are getting harder to find. My wife and I both like the look and functionality of the 66-67 dash layout, and most likely we will be buying a 68 very soon.
Will a dash from a 66-67 fit a 68 ? I haven't had one apart to do measurements. Can the dash be removed as a unit ( gauges / pad as a assembly) Rewiring is not a problem, my other concerns would be steering colunm mounts, console mating.

The windscreen going from low to high, did they also change the angle or anything else that would make it impossible to do ?

Any suggestions or comments ???

I'm new to your forum, and what a great job everyone is doing, keep it up!

That swap can be done, but it is a lot of work. I'd almost say construct a new one from the late model dash and duplicate the 67.5 but with the late model mounts. I've been thinking about this myself. The flat dashes do not bolt straight on, you have to adapt them to each other. I don't know how much work it is, but I'm told its not easy.

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!
