SoCall TT backroads run, Oct 9/10, yahoo!!!

Post by FergO2k »

Folks,
Figured by now all SoCal folks have already decided the Yes/No on the Grand Canyon Datsun run, so for those that can't make that event, here is another that overlaps a bit.

I am going on the SoCalTT again this year, which will be October 9/10 (yes, Sunday-Monday as always, to avoid traffic)

old website from previous runs: http://www.socaltt.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
pics and videos at:
http://socaltt510.shutterfly.com/732" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(check out the exhaust on the "hairy" midget with the rotary engine! one of our roadster friends alternate ride)

cost is 220 for driver, another 120 for passenger. 260 after October 1st.
pre '76 vehicles of all types. Got a "continuation" car? bring it.
Your classic break down the morning of, bring what ya got, maybe wina "trophy" for being biggest cheater, but you are welcome and may be required to lay out the gory details, and listen to 15 guesses at the cause (kinda like here!)

Route is Glendale to Los Alamos, all backroads, about 250 miles per day.
Includes lodging in Los ALamos, dinner (catered, tasty) at the motel, patches, t-shirt, stickers and other paraphernalia, dinner at a restaurant back in Glendale at the end, and some very tongue-in-cheek homemade trophies (most roadside repairs, etc)

Great group of very relaxed gearheads. Lots of 'bench-racing', the roadside motel is very nice. small, family run, simple, but clean and not loud with truck traffic like some of the Solvang haunts.

This is a backroads tour, non-competitive. Have an opportunity to run with folks with better skills? Sure.
Have an opportunity to run with folks with better skills and get in over your head? Yes, your own measure of "in moderation" is the guideline there.
Challenging road maps? No. Pretty simple, I do it single-handed, san GPS, a small clipboard is handy but all is well marked.
Get lost? Just stop and wait for a cool car to come by and follow them for a while.
Sore cheeks from grinning so much in two days? Nearly guaranteed.

Contact me if you are interested and i can forward the details.

PS: there are some beautiful cars that come, but primer is a common paint color, home made graphics / kluge repairs are rewarded. Last year turned out to be "engine swap" year, with all varieties under the sun.
