What's the red light on the dash?

This is, hopefully, a simple question. What's the red light on the dashboard with a B in it? I always assumed it was a brake warning light, but want to make sure.

I just washed the engine compartment and front end components, getting ready for some work, and now that light is on. It also doesn't shut off, even when I pull the key. I had to pull the battery cable to avoid running it down.

Thanks,

Hey Joe,
It is a brake warning light alright.. The sensor is located on the front/rear brake manifold on the fire wall. The water must be causing a short and set off the warning light. Dry that connection off and see if that helps.

Thanks Matt, I'll try that. I wonder if I should borrow Kate's hair dryer for that

Ah,go ahead and do it! The women in our lives never seem to mind when we do stuff like that since it's just our hobby. And while we're at it, they never seem to mind the smell of carburetor cleaner in the kitchen sink, either!!

What's with the switch on the center console of my '69 that turns this light on?

That is it's entire purpose in life! Although I did hear of a sneaky use. One intrepid owner rigged up a switch that was activated by the parking brake (like all normal cars) and then wired his ignition through the S/Brake switch. That way, the switch had to be pulled for the car to run. It would crank forever, but never spark until you pulled that switch.

I thought it was a cool idea!
