SLC J-tinners meet. Now with pixs!

Post by aclever1 »

HIGH POINT outdoor park is officially reserved for AUG 13 2011
address: south east corner of 7800s 1000e; sandy utah
time: we have it reserved from 4pm to 10pm but gathering is expected to start at 6pm
We were planning on a BBQ but there is no grill there and no one really wants to cook when there's cool cars to look at so it will be pizza. You can pitch in or just bring something if you want to share.

Tell your buddies all is welcome, spread the word.

Here are a few of the cars that will be there. Also I there should be a few Japanese vintage motorcycles too.

Dude, is that your car?? Little Cottonwood in the background. You must be here in SLC. We should get together for a cruise. I may be at Speed Week out at Bonneville Salt Flats. Bummer, I would love to bring my car by.

Yeah I just bought it a few months ago, for a new project and so i'll leave my daily driver alone. I saw your car on Miller motorsports website. I've been thinking of taking my roadster to a WOW. I've done a couple of track days in it at the G1 track out at eagle mountain. It's tiny, kind of an autocross set up but still fun, Miller would be a blast, I love that track.

I think we will be doing another meet before the weather turns, this one was just a test to see how many people we can get to show up. It would be nice to see another roadster. I know there are a couple here locally, I just never see them. I go to Cars-n-coffee on most saturdays, you should come check it out.

Oh, do you have a schedual for Speed Week? I was't sure if it's something that you can just show up anytime and see cool stuff or if there certain days or times that were better. I was thinking of heading out there Sunday.

There isn't really a schedule. You just pay something like 10 bucks and drive on in. There are 3 events during the summer and all run about the same. Speed Week, World of Speed and World Finals.

Yes, there is all kinds of cool stuff to see. "Open pits", so you can wander all over the place and talk to the folks there. 200mph big rigs, battery-powered streamliners, motorcycles and last year (or was it the year before?) a rubber-band powered car. I got some pix, but it appears they had problems and didn't run.

If you've never been, you really should go out to one (or more) each year. Make sure you have portable shade (a hat), lots of water, and fully charged or extra batteries for you camera. I prefer a camera over a cell phone, because of the extra detail it provides.

Since I tend to run on and on, as near as I can tell the speed record for our cars is something like 151 mph. There is a MAJOR difference between 120 and 150. Anyway, if you're a gearhead, it's one of the more interesting things to do around here.

Thanks for all the info, I can't wait. 151 in a roadster huh? Mine can barely do half that.

I think I'll be showing up. Another Datsun head will come as well. I'm just not sure if he is going to bring his roadster or Z?

Don't think I've seen that gray 2liter before... '67 2000 or a clone? Nice car either way...

That's my 2Liter. It is a clone.

Thanks again for inviting me. We need to get them out for a drive!
