Ok my name is Mike I am from Oakland, California but now reside in Texas. Being a first time SPL owner I am going to ask alot of dumb question that will probably get some laughs, so enjoy yourselves at my expense , please.

I just bought but have yet to take delivery on a 1970 SPL311, if it's a 2000 is it a pretender ?
I am taking delivery friday....

What is the average cost of a SR20DET swap and are there and crossmember mods to make it work ?

What is the ideal rim height and width for a roadster and tire height and width?

Am I the only one in Texas?

How can I tell if the engine is a 1.6L or a 2.0L? Can you tell me the casting numbers on the block and where they are ?

Closing out the dumb questions for now...I just bought a 1970 2000 fully restored, rebuilt engine, new clutch for $7000, and the interior is spot on as well, did I do well ? .... Look forward to responses, btw i have been racing 510's since 1992 and mine is currently for sale on craigslist Austin if you want a peek.

Welcome! To tell if you have a 1600 or a 2000 it is pretty easy. The 2000s have a cam cover that says Nissan OHC while the 1600s have a valve cover that is finned and says DATSUN (or maybe NISSAN if someone scored a Silvia valve cover). The blocks are G for 1500, R for 1600, H20 for a pushrod 2000, and U20 for a 2000. The pad is on the distributor side of the block by the number 2 cylinder. I will let others chime in on the cost of the SR20 swaps as well as the mods needed. Same with the tires...

No the U20 is unique to the Roadster. 7K could be a very good price, depending on how good everything is, post some pictures or let us know the owner/history. There are a ton of ya'll in TX, some of the biggest contributors to content here - and there is a good parts guy out near you too. SR20 swaps are the subjects of many threads here, a quick search (top of the page) will yield you hours of reading time. Same with wheels!
Welcome aboard!

We documented a swap a few years ago that should answer most of your questions:

This turbo swap might be helpful too:

We sell lots of conversion parts-- check my website for more info: http://www.spriso.com

Hey Mike, congrats on the new car! Your new roadster is from my neck of the woods, in Houston. I'm also from the Bay Area (Berkeley/San Mateo) and moved out here about 4 years ago.

Sign up for the Texas Datsun Roadster Owner's Club http://tdroc.multiply.com

The site is a bit dated, but once you are a member, you can add content, as well.

BTW: There is another roadster owner, Marc Tyler, who also lives in your area.

Let me know if you need me to swing by the shop to check out the roadster prior to your pick-up.
