Yes , it is a rather shallow angle, but the holes bisect perfectly. Each caliper half has a drilled hole that is 2/3's thru the wall on one side already. I kept my bit at the top of that side only needing about an 1/8'' to get thru. I drilled thru on the other side right in the corner where where verticle and horizontal meet. That side was maybe about 3/16'', or less. Use that vally shapped area in the casting as a guide for the drill angle and you should have no problem.

Does anyone know what size the bleeder is? If I have to use the Volvo calipers I'd like to add Speedbleeders. Has anyone done this?

With the Volvo calipers having three bleeders, how would you use the speedbleeders? Would you jus put one in the top spot?

Another question, do the rubber brake hoses fit into teh Volvo calipers or would I have to buy new lines?

Thanks for your help!

I see that both the Girling and ATE calipers are being used. Ia there any advantage of one over the other?

I don't seem to be getting notifications from this thread any more. Great info here recently :)

You would most likely use the speed bleeders in the same order you do the brake lines.....farthest to closest from the inlet. Probably only going to take one pump on each after the highest one is bled.

Okay.....Reddtrain in TX stepped up on the offer to drill a set of calipers and video it. Here's the first one. It's long and there's probably going to be 2 more after this one. I'm covering the dis-assembly and reassembly for those that have never done it before. I've done caliper rebuilds in the past, but I've never drilled one before. It may be a few days or weeks before I get it completed. Anyway....time to hit the sack. The first one will be active on youtube in about 15min.....but here's the link. Let me know if you have any questions since I'm going to be doing this again....I can redo the vids or update.

I finally found, edited and posted the 2 vids I mentioned several pages back.

First is install of the prototype.....it's all I've got to show installation. Second is wheel fitment.

Mike,
FutoFab sells 1/8" spacers specifically for the Roadster. These are commonly used to fit 73mm center bore wheels on the Roadster's front hub. With the 1/8" spacer you don't need to modify the wheel center bore to install 73mm center bore wheels.

Sounds like our 1/8" spacer would be a perfect option to grinding on the Volvo caliper to fit 14" wheels with your brake kit.
(We also sell longer studs that fit the Roadster)

Thanks FutoFab. I'll be grabbing a set before long.

Mike,
Thanks again for introducing your kit to this community. Beside my KA swap, it's the best investment that I put real trust in for my Roadster.

Here's a few pics and details of mine - been on the road now for a couple of months with no problems. I used Mike's kit and the following parts:
Volvo calipers Cardone p/n 19428 & 19429 - Autozone
Brakepads Duralast p/n 12101- Autozone
Tilton 75 series master cylinder - think it was 13/16" bore - Jegs
Brake hoses Earls 15" braided p/n EAR-63010215ERL - Summit
Banjo bolts p/n EAR-997517ERL - Summit
Adaptor fittings p/n RUS-641291 - Summit (1 pack contains 2 adaptors)

Hope this is useful to people thinking of doing this swap.

Thanks oc. I'm about to look all that stuff up. I got my calipers loaded and as for the master I'm staying stock unless it fails
