All Alberta Datsun meet
Saturday, June 4th, 2011.

FREE

All old school Datsuns welcome and encouraged to attend: z cars, trucks, roadsters, 510s, bluebirds, bla, bla, bla... '84+ Nissans you can come too but the old school rides will be the draw.

If you have a Datsun (or did, or will, or are just interested in Datsuns) please make this a must attend event.

Please understand this is NOT a car show, so please don't think your car is not good enough...no excuses. My car has rust, a cracked dash, and torn seats and it will be there!

* If your car is full of bondo, fiberglass patches and painted with a roller; bring it.
* If your car is fully restored, bring it.
* If your car is somewhere in between; bring it.
* If your car isn't running, bring your daily driver.
* Heck, if you want to throw the shell on a flatdeck and haul it; bring it!

..no excuses.

I'm open to suggestions but here is my initial idea:

Southern Alberta folks meet in Calgary and cruise up to Red Deer together. The Northern Alberta folks meet in Edmonton and cruise together to Red Deer.

Once together in Red Deer we can do the parking lot chat thing, maybe buy / sell / trade some parts, share some knowledge, and then a cruise together around central Alberta and maybe take some photos.

I realize there are folks in Lethbridge and Medicine Hat and many north of Edmonton but keep in mind that the bulk of the population lives in the Edmonton - Calgary corridor so we'd have to appeal to the majority.

I'd like to hear from you to gauge your interest before putting more work into the event so tell me if you're into this.

Yes the snow in the lower mainland and the island is usually melted by then

15 confirmed, 10 maybe and 14 pending. I know there are some Alberta guys here...get over to facebook and register for this event or at least send me an email if you are interested.

I know that by now all the Alberta people who may want to come to this have already seen it so there is no point in this post at all but...what the heck.

Cool news everyone. I was contacted yesterday by Greg Williams who writes for the Calgary Herald's Driving Section.

He will be doing a piece on our little get together. It will run in the Herald's Driving section Friday, March 18. Watch for it.

By the way, he asked for some Datsun websites that I frequent and of course I told him about 311s.

Hey everyone, the awareness of our little Datsun meet this summer has received a big boost.

It is profiled in today's edition of the Calgary Herald.

There are a couple of inaccuracies in the article but it still gets the word out.

To date we're at 32 confirmed participants and 18 possibles.

21 Datsuns confirmed as of this morning plus an additional estimate 15-20 Datsuns yet to confirm and a whole pile of post 84 Nissans.

WHAT: First Ever Alberta All Datsun meet

WHEN: Saturday, June 4th.

DEPARTURE LOCATIONS AND TIMES:

Edmonton and Northern Alberta Departure: LEAVING AT 10:30 AM sharp from Oil Derrick at the Alberta Information Booth on Highway 2 just south of Edmonton.

Calgary and Southern Alberta Departure from LEAVING AT 10:30 AM sharp Tim Horton's / Wendy's east side of Highway 2 in Airdrie (just park along the service road that parallels Highway 2 so you don't have to plug up the parking lots there)


DETAILS:

The day will look like this:

1) Cruise from south and north to meet at Bower Place Shopping Centre (see departure times above).

2) MEET LOCATION: Arrival approximately 12:00 Noon at Bower Place Shopping Centre, northwest corner of the parking lot along Gaetz Avenue. See yellow highlighted area on map in thread below.

3) The meet at Bower Place would formally wrap up at approximately 4:00PM.
