Spring Time is coming to Houston, and so are the car shows!!!

One of the premier import car gatherings is a show called Import Reactor which is part of a multi-day event showcasing japanese cars and japanese pop-culture. Last year there were several Z's and a nice RHD Bluebird Coupe. I'll be attending this year with one of my Datsuns.

May we, I with one of our sons age 16, join you? More so than than showing off ours, I am mostly interested in showing the datsun roadster to the youth in our area so they can see it live......Osman

I'm game - we always get a good crowd around the roadsters - it's great fun.

Absolutely and great, that's what I'm thinking. We usually get varying degrees of curious people who come by each time we take our dd to the weekly car meet held every Sat night right near us at Kemah. I suppose you've already registered? Can we still form a team and stick/show together? How can we call out to other roadster owners in the area and get them to perhaps join us? Osman

Ps-Got a 240z owner buddy in our town with a very clean and complete car in silver. I just sent him a text message to check out the web site you listed. I also asked him if he wants to join us are you good with this?

Guys, sounds like there is a great roadster weekend ahead.

I went ahead and signed for the ImportReactor show. It is pricey ($50), but it also includes two tickets to the rest of the Anime Matsuri convention. However, I'm a bit concerned that the car show spots may already be sold-out.

Another recent concern is that the organizers have indicated that 'roll-in' is on Friday, March 18th and the show goes through March 19th. For the associated convention, the Hotel has already sold-out of 500 rooms. Now, I hadn't planned on making this a full two day event, and unless the cars are being stored indoors inside the hotel I'm a bit concerned with leaving it stored outdoors.

But, if ImportReactor doesn't workout, the same weekend one of biggest Texas car meets in the state will be occurring.

Houston Performance Driving.com will be hosting the TX2K11 Night Meet & Bikini Contest @ Frank-N-Steins Bar and Grill in Katy! Frank-N-Steins will be the Head Quarters for all TX2K11 meet ups and driver gatherings during the event week. The fastest and most powerful street cars in the nation will be coming to Houston, TX for the TX2K11 National Performance Meet. This meet also coincides with the National Toyota Supra meet, so this get-together is well attended & a blast.

My understanding is that there will be 'No-Cost" get-togethers on the evening of March 18th & March 19th at Frank-N-Steins Bar and Grill in Katy.

GM Dan, I/we shall have to back off. Here are the words of my zcar friend: "Thanks for the invite! Anime is really not my cup of tea. They would only like my car if I had a SR20DET motor swap and huge fender flares. Different audience, but should be some impressive cars there." This plus what you just posted has dissuaded me. Then you throw in the information about the meet in Katy!! I/we would rather go there to your town instead but you won't be there, oh well. I shall send you a pm with my cell and ask you to do same. Perhaps we can drive up to H-town and at least meet you and put a face on your name......Osman

Thanks for the note, Osman. Like you, I also have a teenage son. However, he does enjoy the anime stuff (and car shows too). Once I get a bit more info from the ImportReactor organizers, I'll provide an update. Chances are that I'll just end up doing the TX2K11 meet which is pretty amazing.

BTW: Last year there were two nice 240Z that were in the importreactor show. A Red 240Z with 280Z turbo engine, and an Orange 240Z with an LS1 swap.

Very well Dan, pls keep me/us posted. I like that the cars are set/shown at the indoor garage parking area. We went to a Subaru car meet last summer just to see/meet Dave Mirra and the sun really beat us down and cooked all the vehicles. There was a really clean/sharp, (what I call a wide body) red 300 z car shown but I couldn't meet up with the owner......

Okay, I'm not going to be heading to the Import Reactor Show.The chaos of the nearby Rodeo (Complete Traffic Nightmare when I went last week), and the need to leave my car there for 2 days has led me to not attend.

However, I will be attending TX2K11 this Friday evening 3/18/2011.

There will first be a Dinner gathering with the Houston-Nissan.com group at:

Where: Applebee's Neighborhood Grill - 19625 Restaurant Row, Houston, TX

When: 6PM Friday March 18th, 2011

Then, after dinner, the group will be rolling out to the TX2K11 meet at 7:30pm Sharp

Friday night's show was massive...absolutely massive. All parking lots including the adjacent lots were filled with rides. Must have been 700-1000 Cars in-and-out during the evening. GTRs, Skylines, 240sx, Z, 510 and more. Here is a quick photo I shot.
