:smt006 Hello fellow Roadies :smt006
I am new to this site, don't know how I missed it for so long but here now.
I, or rather my dad bought my sporty new from Brasso Datsun in North Vancouver back in Sept. 67. He actually traded a pristine '65 Buick Wildcat convertible against it. It started out 666 silver with black, in '69 he had it painted GM hugger orange, ok at the time. It was used off and on over the years by many family members, but also did a lot of sitting, thus the 53000 miles.
The body has had 3 or 4 'tune ups' over the years. Rust fixes, rechroming, new roof in 1979 when it got slashed, until about 3 years ago when I and a local body shop did some quality cleaning up and my brother-in-law painted it back to 666.
It does need some mechanical work and a little updating in the interior.
It is all still original, not the tires, but right down to things like the muffler and tail pipe stinger. Even the windshield washer fluid bag, and pump. Still has the original cloth covered rad hoses.
I have in a box the 'race kit', simply 4 taller velocity stacks to bolt on in place of the air cleaner.
Wrapped up separately and unused is the original tonneau cover and roof boot.
I am no stranger to the roadster mystique, I was a member of the now defunct Datsun Roadster Assoc. back in the 80s into the 90s and also purchased a fixer upper back in 77 that started me into my research and appreciation of the marque. That other car was/is # 00585 that I sold about 15 years ago to a now well known fellow in San Francisco who rebuilt it and sold it as a real beauty. One issue with it though, he sold it as an original Solex car which it was not, it came with SUs. My $0.02.
That should be enough for now.

How cool. #585 is a close cousin to mine at #588. What is interesting is that 585 had motor 1003, while mine was #1000. What number is this one? Is it on the registry?

Hey Greg,
Right you are about the engine #s, interesting oddity about it though is on the cowl plate under the hood it has or had model # as SRL311-01003 and engine # as U20-585. Those crazy Japanese.
