Meet Frankie/Scraps/the Mongrel

Last weekend Zippy - my '69 2000 went home with its new owner.

On Wednesday, Exit64 dropped off my new "interim" car - a '67.5 1600. This car came from San Jose and looks like it was someone's auto-x toy - there were time slips in the door pocket! As wells as comp front springs and comp sway bar (we'll see about the rear springs) The whole car is very low.

It is made up of parts and pieces from a few different cars - the body is actually a '67.5 2000 - holes in the rear panel for the license trim. The original body was swapped to the 2000. On top of that it has the heart of a forklift - an H20!

The wiring is a total mess and I have some interesting ideas on what to do to get it back on the road!

It's a true Frankenroadster - I'm not sure what to call it: Scraps, Patches, Frankie, the Mongrel.....

The interior looks pretty good, and the car as a whole looks very solid. This should be a nice project!
No clue on name though!
It'll come to you and be totally appropriate in time!

That body does't look that bad. Why would they have swapped it?

Glad to see it go to a good home. I was strongly tempted by that one. How 'bout Mutt or Heinz 57, since it's such a mixed breed.

The guy Mike found the car for is no longer with us. Mike got the car back from the estate and sold it to me.

Sounds like you and Will both know the car. Any more info would be appreciated!

Great news - I left a comment on your site Leigh. It's so great to see a roadster come back from the dead (or hibernation in this case).

Cheers
James

That is a good blog. Glad to hear you got it running. The video is great.
Seems to have some misfire to track down, plus the exhaust manifold leak - but it runs!!

It does sound like an interesting project. A 2nd 'Frankie' doesn't sound like a bad idea, Scraps is an interesting name, but Mutt just sounds too derogatory.......

I'll check out the blog now.......
