I'm going thru the engine in my '68 2000 and found the cam is shot as well as the rockers. What are the options for cams? I've heard of a B cam but don't know what it is. Whose got the best deal on engine parts? Anyone parting out a U20?

I am surprised none of the 2 liter folks have answered you on this one. I am a 1600 guy but will give it a shot. There were two cams available for the 2 liter. The "A" cam is used with the SU carbs and the "B" cam is used with the Solex carbs. I am not sure you would gain much from using a "B" cam with SUs but I could be wrong. Any way that is a quick and dirty answer. I am not sure there are any "best deals" on 2 liter parts. Dean of Fairlady Products carries everything you need to rebuild and more. Now if you had a 1600 you could get H20 parts pretty cheaply from MotorPower out of Kentucky. I am a little biased I guess. The U20's were kind of re-engineered to work but Datsun/Nissan got it right with the L series motors.

Ok, heres the deal. The B cam is the one to have. It works great with the SUs. You can also have your old cam reground to different specs by both Americam or Schnider. Mike Young had some reground cams that are slightly more agressive than the b cam but with a shorter duration. I'm not sure if he has any more. When I last checked the price for A cams were way out of hand and the B cam was a little cheaper. A regrind will be cheaper than both. You can make a pretty hot cam with an A core (I have one). As for rockers, I don't know who has the best deal. I think I bout mine from Nissan.
The U20 is an awesome engine that really likes a longer duration on the exhaust side of things. Another thing to do is to hog out the intake for the SUs so they are the same size as the ports in the head. make sure everything is smooth.
I'm currently trying to build the hottest U20 on the west coast that is not on NO2 or supercharged. If you are interested in spending some $$ to make your roadster seriously fast send me an email and I'll tell you what I'm doing.
