Another new guy from NorCal

Hi all,

Thank you for having me here at the roadster party. I'm a Z car owner; please don't hold that against me. It has a Chevy V8 in it; please don't hold that against me. I'm a 10 year member of Hybridz.org (this could be the fastest banning in history!).

Just kidding, I'm sure there are lots on Z lovers here. And hopefully the purists here will forgive me. Just so they know, I can appreciate a well done as-factory-delivered restoration just as much as a well executed dream-creation custom. And, just to ease any anxiety, I won't be stuffing an American V8 in my roadster. One ground pounder is enough for me.

I don't own a roadster yet. I'm still doing my research. I thought this would be a great place to get accurate and helpful information. I'm not a noob to the forum communication format, so I'll try to be complete, concise, and keeping within the rules here when I post my noob questions. While I won't be doing a motor swap the roadster will be a "project" car. As my research firms up I'll share with you my plan. Until then my questions may seem a little strange. Please be patient.

In return for your help I'll gladly pass on any knowledge I have gleaned from my 10 year V8Z car adventure to any curious inquirers.

Thank you again,

Dan Juday

Welcome Dan! You won't find much, if any "snobbery" around here. There is no Classic Z/Hybridz division. We have our purists and our modifiers along with everybody inbetween in peacefull (mostly) co-existence. That's one of the great things here. No need to hop to different forums simply due to members tunnelvision. This is one stop shopping!

Maybe I'll see your car one of these days when heading down to Al The Wops or Tony's Place! There use to be a primered V8 240z here in Sacto that I'd see on my way to work everyday but the guy either moved or sold it. I was behind him a couple times at stop lights but he usually disappeared pretty quickly-loved the rumble coming from that car! Welcome aboard.

I really like that color blue, and those are some monster flares in the back. All in all an incredibly nicely executed ride!

I like the whole car, and I'm not a big Z fan. The modifications flow well together and the fuel cap and taillights are a nice touch.

Welcome!

I think I am viewed as a purist here. That being said, those flares on your Z are awesome! Very nicely done. I always liked the Monza filler cap too.

The mention of "Al the Wop's" made me crack up!
While i am not a flare or a body kit guy, that car looks awesome and is extremely well executed, well done. Great mix of original Z lines with just a hint of Daytona coupe influences.
Best looking manner to get large meas in back without ruining the original lines.

Bring on the outside the box ideas, projects, etc. We welcome all loonies to the bin!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and the kind words.

My Z is currently apart getting some originally overlooked items addressed and some minor tweaking to the front end design. I'm also taking the opportunity while the motor is out to make some cosmetic upgrades, repainting the block and heads, better headers (that don't leak), nicer valve covers, powder coating the intake, etc. Also fitting a shorter Corvette pan to get me another 3/4" of ground clearance so I can lower the car a little more.

It's not nearly so pretty to look at in its present state, but if any local roadster guys would like to see I'd be happy to have you over, on the condition you drive here in your roadster. We'll go to lunch at Al the Wop's.

Welcome Dan. I'll provide the female perspective: nice car!
I think a chrome grill would be an alternate good look too.
Hope you find a Roadster, there seem to be plenty for sale.

Welcome to the forum. I notice you used the tail lights from a Z32, I have a 95TT! i'm sure you will find the right Roadster for you. There are alot out there. Try Craigslist as they seem to be priced better than the ones that make it onto ebay. If you don't mind the drive check out the LA area as I think there is a 67 1/2 1600 still listed that is rust free and a pretty good deal.

Welcome sir...I'm a Roadster and Z guy as well, love them both for different reasons.

Best of luck in your quest, if you spot one around the Napa area and need someone to check it out, let me know.
