Matt's Turbo 510

Post by Alvin »

I did a write-up on Matt G's KA24DE-T powered 510 that he recently restored:

Ahhhh! More sniping! What did I say yesterday (see post on suspension)? This list is starting to sound like our stupid government with all the political bullcrap that I've had to tune out.
:Tosser:
I come here to NOT think about or deal with conflict... I get enough of that crap with rude people in the ER. Please put Roadsters/cars FIRST and any little personal issues a very distant LAST.

Thank you.

BTW, nice car. Well done.

what is "sniping"?
If the last 4 or 5 comments that Sid made on all of my 510 threads here are "sniping" then he should be banned

So if I post another modified 510 in this thread, which does include 510s, you will go out of your way to profess your opinion for the nth time of how you don't get it and it's a family car?

Are you running out material?

I had a 510 as my first car (and another as my 2nd car) when I was young and single, now that I have a family I've bought a roadster

Interesting car, here in Australia the engines of choice for a 510 are FJ20, SR20 and to a lesser extent CA18. We didn't get the KA24DE in rear wheel drive form (except for a very limited range of trucks). I've never actually seen a KA24DE-equipped one in the flesh.

Any ideas on how it performs ? Obviously it'll be quick, but is it all low-down torque or does the KA24 still like to rev ? I've been toying with the idea of building a KA24DE-headed L20B engine for a project I have on the go (using the head off a FWD U13 or "Altima" to you guys) but using the whole KA24DE may be an easier option, since it is really just an overgrown L16 it should bolt in nicely ? Seems to be plenty of support, including turbo parts, available in the USA ?

In stock form it doesn't rev as freely as the other engines you listed, but that is easily changed with aftermarket parts
The KA is a great engine for the roadster, they make ~140rwhp stock!
Tremendous aftermarket support, the turbo setup that Matt used is actually based on a popular aftermarket turbo kit made specifically for the KA24de powered 240sx!

Thanks for the reply. The "project" I'm working on is actually a 610 SSS coupe rather than a roadster (the roadster is next), so a KA24DE block should pretty much bolt in seeing its based on an L-series block.
