Who's Black Roadster in E'ville?
Any claims to the black Roadster I saw today in Emeryville, Ca around 4:45pm near the Home Depot. I was so excited, it was my first random Roadster sighting since I got my Roadster. Unfortuneatly, I wasn't in mine at the time. I barely got a look at it, I was at a stop light and she went by heading East on 40th. All I really saw was a luggage rack on the back. I was working, otherwise I'd have chased it down.

That looks like the one. That car looks great.
Maybe you can tell me what front end shop you used for the alignment. I called my regular place and they said they had no info on my car and didn't really want any, even when I offered to come up with the spec's myself. I thought I'd try WheelWorks next, but a recommendation would be even better.

Thanks for the compliment. I've had her for a little less than a year now and she really keeps me grinning.
I wound up having McKevitt Volvo & Nissan in Berkeley do it (they used to be Berkeley Datsun-Nissan.) They did an OK job but I had to bring the specs to them and they looked at me kind of funny when I drove in. I looked around trying to find someplace that knows datsuns but they were as close as I got.
I'd be happy to send you the front end specs if you'd like.
Do you have any pics of your roadster that you could share? I see other roadsters around the east bay every now & then, maybe I've seen yours.

Thanks Bill, that would be great if you'd send those alignment specs.
I'll send a few pics as soon as I get a new digital camera. Between buying a camera and buying parts for the roadster, the roadster seems to win out. I took her on a fun run earlier this month. Alvin took a few pics and posted them. Here's the link, it's under "fun run 6/13/04"

My car's a white on white '68 with stock steel wheels and dome hubcaps. She's also lowered a lot in the front and a little in the back. When I get back from The Shasta Show, I plan on tearing apart the front end much like you did. My idler is loose, as well as my lower ball joints and I've got a leak in my steering gear to fix as well. I hope to get all the parts together ahead of time, I'd like to have it off the road for as short a time as possible. Too much fun to drive.
Hope to see you on the road again soon.

Here are the front alignment specs from my Chilton's "Datsun 1961 to 1972" repair & tune-up guide:
Caster: 1 deg. 30 min.
Camber: 1 deg. 25 min.
Toe-In: .08"-.12"
Kingpin Inclination: 6 deg. 35 min.
Wheel Pivot Ratio (Inner Wheel): 36 deg. 16 min.
Wheel Pivot Ratio (Outer Wheel): 29 deg. 20 min.
Wheelbase: 89.8"
Track (Front): 50.2"
Track (Rear): 47.2"
Good luck with your alignment.
PS - I'd love to see your car in person. Any chance you'd like to get together do a little roadster chatting?
