Blue Lake Datsun Show report. 8-8-10.
The List Meister was present, represented DROPS, got awards, won a raffle prize, bought parts and had BBQ!!!
Overall a very good show. Very friendly, low key, generous with awards, food and raffle prizes.
Roadster turnout was 9!! Area regulars Leigh Brooks, Bill Cole and Enrique were there plus a few roadster I had not seen before.
Mike (Exit64 on 311s) was there (without roadster). No Spriso roadsters attended.
From my place, 203 miles and about 3 hrs. There was "Heavy Moisture" all way down HWY 167 till Tacoma but I just drove faster
and did not get wet!. $15 entry into the judging, raffle and all you can eat BBQ.
About 100 cars in total.
Awards for roadsters were generous. 1st and 2nd for both 1600 and 2000 cars.
My Fairlady got second in 1600 and All Show "Best Interior". Enrique got first 1600. Bill Cole got 2nd 2000.
I won some new 280z rear brake cylinders in the raffle. The BBQ was good.
A guy came with a truck load of 67.5 parts from a wrecked roadster. Give away prices!.
Bill Cole got there first and got a nice 76.5 horn button for $20.!. I got the 67.5 dash mirror.
Interesting novelty were 3 electric Datsuns. 2 using traditional lead batteries
and 1 race car!. Said to be the fastest dragstrip battery car! Low 10's for the quarter mile. Owner said it could go lower.
It uses experimental Li helicopter batteries (valued at about $100K)!. Uses 2 of the big electric motors.
This show gets a A+ rating. I Plan to go next year.

Ted. DROPS List Meister.

Great pictures and thanks for the summary!
I love that every Roadster there had different rim/tire combos -they ran the whole gamut.
That cobalt blue is still my favorite blue color for a Roadster - what an intense blue.
Congrats on the second place award!!

Hi Ted, did my mirror make it home alright..LOL..Yes, it was a very fun show, with familiar roadsters and faces and new ones too. As mentioned there were some great deals on roadster parts :D, along with the 67.5 horn button, I found the 2 chrome pieces that cover the windshield to body gasket ends for a low windshield car, plus what I believe is an original 67.5 rubber shifter boot in great condition, and a chromed 1600 grille backing plate, I'm not sure how the chrome backing plate will look, if it looks bad it can always be painted. So who ended up with the mysterious top hold down strap? Enrique!!
Thanks for posting the photos... Bill
