Liberate DROPS Roadsters Drive. 5-8-20.
Great Drive today (Friday) with 5! DROPS roadsters. Low 80's. Beautiful Sunny day. 150 miles.
Dan R, Art B, Don and Sandi, Rick and Lily, Ted
North along the Cascade foothills to Arlington.
Our attempts at Covid-19 mitigation were only fair.
80% on 6' social distancing.
20% on masking. Ted and Dan did best at wearing masks at the drive stops.
Dan R was the contributor to the usual drive excitement.
LR wheel nuts left untightened and lost one nut but problem was spotted before he lost the wheel!
🤔😢😳🙄.

For some reason all the notices are going direct to junk mail! Couldn't have gone either way in the Datsun however, two bad needle and seats in the carbs are causing havoc, and parts have to come from England... several days away... so glad my wife has the Z3!

Looks like a great drive!

Roadster Drive Today 5-9-20. Cascade 3 Pass Loop. Mid 80s. Sunny. 250 miles.
Great Drive with Dan R today.
The Cascade Loop Highway over Stevens, Blewett and Snoqualmie Passes.
Plus the Plain/Chumstick loop from Coles Corner to Leavenworth.
First weekend of reduced Covid -19 restrictions and everyone was out driving!.
After the lost lug nut episode yesterday, Dan was checking at every stop!.🙄😁

Had nothing better to do today, so I cleaned the shed out at bit and threw on a set of turbine wheels to the car.
Ended up taking a quick spin.
It was blast and I felt like old times but alas I had to return home and put back on the current wheels and forget about growing a mullet.

Cheers

Lots of people are growing mullets because the barbershops are not open....

Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.

Turbines are just temporary and will be removed shortly. Hair has been home cut and is so short I could get scalp sunburn.
Luckily it’s too cold out to put the top down so I’m safe for the moment without having to wear a hat. :D

Cheers

I hear you Alvin! My wife has had three Z3s, all different years (2000 2.3 V6, 2001 2.5 V6, and now the 1998 1.9 straight 4, all automatics because she has not learned to drive a manual, though I have often offered to teach her as I have the kids). The '98 is by far the closest to the Roadster in handling, power etc. It lacks the considerable torque difference vs the V6s, so it has taken a different approach when driving (you can't be as lazy, you need to keep it in the higher rpms to get response out of it) but working the auto trans and knowing that you have to helps make it fun. Unlike the later cars, this one is more connected than the others to the driver. The steering is point and shoot, whereas the others tended to fight me and resist what I was asking it to do.

With the Datsun down now (waiting for new needle and seats from England, new carb filters also from England, and with the wheels out for straightening) we have really appreciated having the Z3. If it had a 5speed, I think it would be a more modern example of a Datsun Roadster (with a soft top that works instantly!).
