Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
All day Tuesday loop drive over the Cascade Mts. 8 hrs. 360 miles.
Perfect weather. SUNNY and not too hot.
Around N side of Mt Rainier. Over Chinook Pass. 5400'
On my favorite Nat Forest Rd. Little Naches River Road. 15 miles of smooth paved road with no traffic.
Back via the Yakima River Canyon and Snoqualmie Pass.

Watch out, Ted, that's the "country boy" side of Washington--just look at those bullet holes in that sign! LOL

Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
I didn't drive far or video my drive, but I drove to an ex Datsun Roadster racer's place when I learned how close he lived to me.
He is "Ernie de Jacomo". He was very courteous and shared a bunch of stories, working for Datsun, racing the roadster and later an Nissan 240sx. He knows Stan and even used to have a stash of HOT parts which even Stan would want a peek at.
There is a small blurb about him here: http://www.datsun.org/fairlady/deJacomo.htm
My hat off to Ernie for spending time with me and my roadster.

Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
Drove the roadster to the Blue Lake Datsun Show. I showed up late, so my roadster isn't pictured in this line up. Plus... mine isn't as pretty as these, it would have hurt her feelings being the ugly duckling of the bunch.

Took both roadsters to the Shedd BBQ-- the kids donned their vintage Datsun competition racing jackets (thanks to Don Anderson for the pic!):

Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
Massive photo dump.. Sorry.. Weekend went from Tuesday til Monday..
Tuesday evening weekend prep..
Left Wednesday morning 0dark30 to meet Ron for the drive up..
Arrived at Laguna Seca just after noon, unloaded the car and got it into tech.. Prep was good, got the sticker..
Carefully driving thru the paddock, the cars, the smells, the everything is unreal and distracting..
Posed at victory lane.. I can pretend, right?
Got back to our spot, we were next to the group from Z Car Garage..
Right behind us, a gentleman rolled in with his transporter, and started to unload his Ford race car..
We buttoned everything up, and took off to an event at Monterey airport.. Ron was spending time with friends and legends.
Some beautiful cars, gorgeous sunset, amazing planes. There were WAY too many to photograph, much less post.. But here's a couple roadsters..lol
Thursday morning, the cars hit the track..
The Z Car Garage car had a guest driver. Mr. John Morton put on a suit and got behind the wheel..
A few hours later, it was Ron's turn, out for first practice.. Car was running good, but needed some brake adjustments to feel more comfortable. But she sure looked good out there..
Another of our neighbors for the weekend was this beautiful 356 from Australia.. Love the angry kangaroo.
Every walk to food, or anywhere really, was an assault on the senses. You really did not know what you would see next..
Dinner on the island, we got to walk on the track to get there..
We headed over to the track early Friday morning, ready to adjust the car and get ready. This place really is mind-blowing..
Stopped by the track store to get Ron some shoes that fit better.. On the walk, just another of the many cars getting the morning dew wiped off. 250GT SWB
Rob Fuller of Z Car Garage and John Morton discuss strategy.. 'go fast, have fun'
Ron, Alvin and I bled brakes, clutch, and adjusted the balance bar. Everything looked good. Put gas in the car, and it was time to wait our turn. So I walked up the hill to take some pictures..
Yes, people really were driving hard..
Afternoon, roadsters hit the track..
Triumph was awesome..
Black flag all brought the field in.. Probably saved this engine..
Timing chain jumped a tooth, bent valves. It's Friday at 4pm.. Can it be fixed by Sunday morning? In the meantime, the brakes were perfect on Ron's car, but the increased speed now showed up in a stumble off a couple of the turns.. We had multiple experts in the paddock looking, it was going to be a fun weekend..
Saturday morning coffee was accompanied with some Bugatti traffic..
We cleaned the car, then Saturday was all about being an ambassador and enjoying the event.. Our spot was 30 feet from the track exit, so it was a constant parade of amazing machinery..
Pushed it just a little too hard..
Not nearly as many photos from Sunday, we had two sessions to get ready for. Saturday afternoon Dave Rebello arrived with the repaired head for the 73 car. They got it running and it was in both sessions Sunday.
After the first session, we lined up most of the Datsun race cars, for a few photos..
Lunch and race cars..
After the afternoon session, Ron coming off the track.. A very successful weekend, when the car is in better shape at the end of the track weekend than when it arrived!
We got the 73 car into the line-up and got a few more photos..
Packed up as soon as we could, and hit the road. Ready for a night in a real bed..lol
Sunset and sliver moon at Gonzales..
101 freeway was just about closed just north of SLO.. Driving thru the fire in the roadster was wild..
Got home about 4.. Just an incredible weekend.
It was really awesome spending the week with the people from Z Car Garage. They went out of their way all day every day to make this as fun as it could be, helped when a 3rd set of hands was needed, and just kept the atmosphere fun and flowing!
Tim Arnett was also awesome along with several other new friends.. Literally meeting new people every few minutes..
The 702 outlaw scooter gang was awesome! Great spending time with you guys!
And I cannot thank Ron Carter enough.. Serious bucket list stuff there.. To be part of the team, to get hands dirty, to help when needed, and to lounge in the lounge when not.. Really this was WAY too cool to explain.. Thanks!
