Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
A few weeks ago, made a Sunday drive out to the "Datsun Ranch", and unfortunately the car konked out in the driveway.
Tricky one to figure out, but my buddy Mike found that the Matchbox of the EI had failed. Purchased a replacement and now the car is driving better than before!
Took a few laps through the backroads.

Good to carry a spare module. Garry Boone has an install/ troubleshooting write up in the Tech Wiki for module and distributor pickup testing. At least the module is easy to change out.

Absolutely. It actually took about a week for the replacement module. Though the matchbox seems like it is so cool and new (Compared to points), it really is already vintage technology.Good to carry a spare module

Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
That’s the main reason I’ve been sticking with points, never had a set completely fail me. Points will let you know when they are going bad before they leave you stranded. Worst I ever had was when they slipped out of adjustment on a friends car, fixed with a screwdriver and an “eyeball†adjustment.
Of course I do concede that electronic ignition is better in every other way, but so is a Miata. I don’t want a Miata

Last weekend I got some new Toyo R1R tires so naturally I had to test them out. I did a short blast up Hwy 9 to the lookout, then down to Bear Creek Rd and home.

Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
We had a mild sunny day, so I thought I’d go hit some curves around one of our nearby lakes. First I had to get some gas, and since I only use non ethanol premium I had to go into Tulsa to get it. Well, my usual station was out of it so I had to go deeper into Tulsa to find some. At the last minute I decided that since it was a Sunday and nobody seemed to be out, it would be a good day to get some pictures along historic Route 66 of the Datsun with some local artwork in the background.

Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
Last Saturday drove out to the lookout. Met some really cool car enthusiasts.
As I was about to leave a group of teens arrived and put on a show. I was so happy to see younger folks still into cars:

New Year's Drive to Mt. Umunhum.
We had two Series 1 240z cars, a 510 and FD RX-7.
It was great to meet up and drive, even for a short moment.
A short video from the drive:

Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
Mike, the car looks Great! Really nice stance... are you on comp Springs? Looks like a fun time, maybe my wife and I will get there someday. One question... have you ever considered painting the rear drums Black? I know silver is stock, but for my eyes it would balance the car out and make the rear wheels the same as the front. Try covering the drum with a black piece of paper, install the wheel and see what it looks like, you may like It!

Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
Thanks Greg, and yes the fronts are Deans springs and stock leafs on rear. You made me go back and look at my pictures and look at the difference behind the front and back wheels. The aluminum drums really do stand out in comparison with the fronts. I didn’t want to hide the fact that the drums are aluminum instead of cast iron, but I see your point. Using black paper for comparison is I good idea. I think I’ll try it!
P.S. if you ever do make it to Oklahoma I’ll put you up in the guest house and save you some bucks!

Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
I agree! I really like the look of your car, and the stance, wheels, tires, etc.
I'm fixin' to prepare to get ready to consider thinking about contemplating what to get for the wheels, tires, stance, etc.
What size wheels, tires, do you have? It's a very good look.
Thank you!
