I'll bet I speak for most of us that you are the most fortunate guy out there to be able to enjoy your various roadsters probably more often than a lot of us! The wife and I are anxious to get out and drive with 57 degrees today and tomorrow but snow forcast for Saturday! We will be bundled up, top down soon though.

Joined my friend Geoff in his 1963 Lotus 7 for a day of driving. We started off headed to Mt. Hamilton but it was just too wet/slippery. We ended up driving up to Mt. Umunhum. The road up to the summit is so much fun we did it twice!
Image
Image

I'm proud of this shot, check out the speed sign!
Image

This video shows our ascent to the summit of Mt. Umunhum from two points of view:
1) Following the Lotus (camera inside of Datsun)
2) Following the Datsun (camera on Lotus roll-bar)

Enjoy!

I wanted to capture how smooth and how technical it is from the park gates to the very top. There's a bit of everything here from nice sweepers, switchbacks and multiple connect-the-dot turn sections. The road itself is relatively short: only 5.5 miles, but you gain ~3,500 feet of elevation.
Image
Image

The 7 is fun to watch, Geoff wears ballistic-spec goggles and the interior gets littered with rocks/pebbles:
Image

After our fun in San Jose we split and I drove 90 miles to explore Sunol Regional Wilderness. Another beautiful and different landscape out there. Not a road for driving, but Welch Creek is single lane cruising.
Image
Image
Roadster was filthy, and in the grime a subtle design cue was revealed...have you noticed the slight outward flare of the rear fender near the door sill?

It was a great day for driving and exlporing!

On Sunday I drove to Calaveras Rd.

On the way back visited the shop where photographer Larry Chen was picking up his 1970 Datsun 240Z.

I'll have a full report on it soon. It's the first SR-powered S30 I've driven. Larry gave me a neat sticker, 1 year after he shot the roadster for an episode of Hoonigan Autofocus. Its proudly displayed near the AF sticker

Roadster Drive today. Tuesday. 4-6-21. 64 1500. 84 miles. Fall City Cherry Blossoms.
Beautiful Spring like day. Mid 60's. Sunny. Warm!
With DROPS members Rick H, 69 1600 and Ted Jr, 68 SR20DET.
In search of Cherry blossoms and the trees lining the river at Fall City were perfect.
Lunch at our favorite Mt. Si view stop.
Nice 57 444 Volvo wagon at the Costco when we gassed up.

Washed the roadster post last weekend's rain/mud excursion. She's nice and clean again! Fueled up and went for a spin in the foothills on Saturday.
