About -8 C Saturday, but clear and roads were snow-less so drove the long way to and from work. Sunday, took the boy to gymnastics training, yesterday got the car to my mechanic friend for a few little adjustments. The snug top has either hard or non existent rubber, but two well placed cardboard air deflectors at the gap between the rolled up windows and the top kept the drafts down. Great to be out in the sun listening to that happy little engine

Nowhere exciting, but very exciting! My car saw daylight for the first time since I painted it 3 or 4 years ago. Took it around the block 4 times for a total of about 4 miles for a shakedown run. Need to rebleed the clutch, as I had to pump it twice to shift if I waited more than a couple of seconds between shifts. Transmission shifted well and engine pulled good, but only ran it up to 4 or 5K a few times since its new. Unfortunately I'm hearing a squeal that may be coming from the cam :( . Cam turned pretty easy by hand with only a slight drag in one spot when I installed it. Going to have to dig into that and hope it's something else. I stopped and snapped a couple of pictures to send to my boys to prove it actually is finally drivable :D . So now in the last 36 years I have put about 8 miles on it, 4 before I started the resto and now 4 as its getting close to being finished. Here's the pictures I took, and by the way it hasn't been washed since I painted it, think the paint's cured yet :smt003

It left you smiling tho didn't it, just saying. Great to have another one back on the road. And thanks for making me feel better about the the couple of years it took me to get mine back on the road. I thought it would take six months. What the hell was I thinking!! I also went for a short drive but can't prove it, you know it didn't happen unless you have pictures.
Congrats

Glad I could make you feel "speedy" Keith. I take slow to a new level! I actually took it off the road in 1982 and started prepping the body for paint. I've spent way more time cleaning and polishing parts than I have assembling them. Learning paint and body as you go certainly didn't help speed the project along. Still have to put the front bumper on and some minor trim pieces. Then the dreaded windshield and new top install :? But yeah, there was a BIG smile

Congrats - those 4 miles must have felt great.

BTW - the windshield isn't too hard, for me it's the TOP that is the bugger, 'cos you only really get one try!!

You know there's something about these little cars that just brings a smile to your face, every time. Someday someone needs to put a regional meet together. Maybe around the Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas area? Hill country in west Texas? Need to take a poll and see who is interested and where. I have a good size smoker on a trailer easily cook for 80.
Just fishing.

I have driven my roadster every single weekend since August 18, 2017. Unfortunately this driving streak will be interrupted as I go out of town next week. So I DROVE her as much as I could!

On the way home I noticed a Ferrari 575M behind me. I got my camera ready
Image

The driver pulled next to me and gave thumbs up and frantically starting yelling "I used to have one of those!" I acknowledged this best I could and did it a few more times as traffic moved. Oddly he did all this through a closed, tinted window:

It was funny
