Time to restrict "guest" posts

I think that time has come. I don't mind anyone saying something inflamatory but I think it's bad for the board to allow anonymous folks to stir things up. No more posting by guests - that's my vote.

I think I agree with "oilleak". Actually this is the only forum I frequent that allows unregistered guest to post.

I agree, too. Gotta register to post.

As an alternative, could all guest posts be directed thru the administrator to clear their post?
Some guests may have some constructive input but may want to remain anonymous.

Both ideas have merit...
But, I hope one bad apple doesn't ruin it for everyone. The forum is growing and well statisically this situation is supposed to happen eventually.
An initial approach is some kind of quasi-editting. So hese kinda rant posts can be deleted as they come along and general policy to ignore them.

Another forum I frequent has a "Report this post" button, which alerts the board operator to potentially inappropriate posts.
This allows a method for community feedback, but doesn't overwhelm the operator with every guest post.
It also allows for some review of registered memebrs who occasionally lose control of their fingers...

All things considered we have not had too many problems with "Guest" posts but I will look at our options and take some action in the next week. The forum is doing better than I ever thought it would. We have some very roadster/car knowlegable people on board and that is great. Thank you all for your participation.

I did not realize there was that much BS coming from the guest posts. I took a look at the thread on trailer hitches and did not like what I saw at all. Effectivley immediately there will be no more "posts" or "replys" from unknown sources. If you have something to say, register so we all know who we are dealing with. There is no call for being a trouble maker here or in the real world. Take your attitude some where else.
