Frame

Post by harrison »

I got a question about the roadster frames. Are the frames from 67.5 and 68 identical? If not, what are the differences and does anyone have pictures of these?

No, they are not identical. Unless I am mistaken, the 68 has holes drilled through it (large ones) in front of the suspension to make a crush zone.

IIRC the 68 also has a reinforcement were the frame kicks up in the front. I have seen an early body on a late frame, so I don't think it's a big deal.

The reinforcement is indeed part of the mix. I thought I had seen it on a couple of 67.5s, but my memory may be blurred. It was part of the safety updates. The torque bar arrived in the 67.5 models - they had issues with the mount in fact.

I have a 69 body on a 66 frame in the garage. Swapped over no problem. I can't imagine going the other way is different...

Yeah, the torque bars were put into first production on the 67.5.

Thanks alot guys for all the info, it really helps. Just wanted to be positive before i slap some money down on a frame that i wasnt sure would work.
