New Member starting new restoration

I just bought a '68 200 project, pretty complete but it's been sitting a long time. Everything's crusty, particularly the rusted rear fenders and quarter panels. I'm getting ready to disassemble it and have the tub dipped and then try to address the corrosion issues. I've got a couple of questions.

First, the engine appears to have a belt-driven air pump with a small round filter on the right side. Is this a California car? If so, what other changes are there?

Second, who sells body panels. I'm going to have to cut out the rotten parts, including the bottom of the trunk floor. Does someone sell these panels like they do on old Jags?

Stand by for lots more dopey questions.

Welcome to the group, it sounds like you have the original Smog equipment from a California car on your vehicle, you can remove this equipment as long as you plug all the holes and also recurve the distributor in order to make the car run properly without it.

There are many vendors that carry used body panels, as for new panels I would ask the vendors.

Datsun Sports - tons of used body parts in California
Sports Imports - located in Washington
Rallye Enterprises - also located in Washington
Craig Halsted - located in Virginia
Stan Chernoff - located in California

Welcome and good luck on your restoration. It does sound like you aquired a smog equipped car. Pretty easy to remove but there are things that need to be done to make it run correctly. Lou mentioned most of them. Body panels used-I would say the left coast has more of a supply of those than the east coast or mid-west. Mike Kerr of Roadster Restorations is the only one Lou missed. He(Mike) has been talking about getting out of the roadster business completely. He has lots of parts. He is listed on the vendors page with the rest of them. You might be better off trying to pick up a parts car close to you off of Ebay. Sometimes what you think you bought is not what you get. Any way, do not hesitiate to ask questions as there is plenty of help here!

Hey if you don't want that smog pump mount let me know... I need one and be willing to pay a fair price for it.

Minh,

I'd rather trade for any parts that you might have laying around.

How's about a Nissan NOS still the box U20 stock air filter element for SU carbs?

They go for at least $20.
