That is insane! I can't believe you were able to drive it that far. Very cool! It is amazing what these cars will do for a good home.
I just installed my firewall brake support last night. I made it ten times harder than it needed to be. Didn't realize that the Brake master cylinder bolt was pressure fit. All that struggling on my back for nothing.
$6 is a great deal for a paint job. My paint is still original, as far as I can tell. But I am going to need to cover some bare metal soon. 20 years of wearing a hard top has sanded a groove across the back.

thanks guys! I love my car very much. I was blown away that it made it that far too, i had people already lined up to come get me if it didnt make it, but i didnt need them! the car has been great to me. it breaks down often, but i soon have it up and running again, usually better than before. i try to drive it as often as i can, almost expecting it to break, and i try to see how far i can go without trouble. each time gets longer between breakdowns, so it is a good way to find problems and troubleshoot them. last night i went 66 miles to visit my dad, almost all of which was on the interstate doing 75mph. ran perfect both ways. it is times like that that are the most rewarding, because i know ive done good work.

i need to order that firewall brake support... seems like a good investment. did it make a difference?

The brake brace - regardless of the source you get it from - is a fantastic addition!

I didn't have a chance to check the difference as a thunderstorm with hail rolled in right as I finished. Something so simple to prevent unnecessary damage is always a good thing. $20 verses a ton more. No question, it is worth it!

the only place i have seen it is DatsunParts.com... Dean has it for 28 bucks there. where is it 20? it is only an 8 dollar difference, but Dean also has steep shipping fees. if i could save some dough, it might be worth it!

and as an afterthought, isnt it supposed to give you much better pedal feel because the firewall no longer flexes too? or does it still flex?

Both Stan (http://www.fairladyproducts.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and Gerardo have them as well (http://www.fairladyparts.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) I got one from Gerardo and it is very nice. I have not heard any disappointments from anyone regarding them.

Gerardo is out of town this week. He will be on it on his return. Sergio may be in the shop. If you want I can dig up his number.

I believe the brace is designed to reduce the flex in the firewall, so in turn the pedal should be a bit more firm. Still raining here...check that....snowing here, so I still have to wait to get the car out and test it.
