Its been a long time

Well its been 29 years since I owned a Datsun 2000. I purchased one in 1978 and used as an every day driver from 78-81 and racked up over 100k miles. It was a 1970 beige/silver-gray. I drove that car very hard and had a blast back in the day.

During the last thirty years I have owned dozens of GM muscle cars. I own several today and enjoy them for what they represent; a time when the American automotive horsepower wars were raging. Well I recently had an opportunity to purchase back my first muscle car, a 1969 camaro RS/Z28. see link:

Reliving my youth would not be complete without a Datsun roadster, so recently purchased a 67.5 2000 that many of you are familiar with # 501. Tim Miner made the process very pleasurable and I look forward to really enjoying the car. I like to tinker, and enjoy the process of getting familiar with the mechanicals of a car. I hope to meet up with my fellow Datsun roadster owner in the northeast.

Welcome! Good story on the Camaro.

Is that the Roadster that Tim had in the magazine article? Does this mean that Tim is out of the Roadster business??

I can't speak for Tim, but I can tell you I had to twist his arm a little. Tim is passionate about roadsters, and I recommend that you might want to email or PM him. Yes it is the red 67 in the magazine article.

Well welcome into the fold! The Camaro is one great looking ride, but so is the Datsun and it will be a nice change of pace!

I love good car stories like that! Welcome back... I'm glad to see that 501 is in the hands of someone who enjoys cars and will driver her like she should be driven!

Thanks guys. When I receive the car on Saturday it was, and had been raining for the past three days. I have only wiped the car down and figured out a few thingss (I now know the HH switch ativates the hazards). The car seems smaller then I remember (maybe i've gained a few) but I really like the flat dash look. Just an FYI; I used reliable transport and they delivered the car from CA to NY in 5 days.

Funny story, the transport driver said there was a Mazerati and a Ferrari in the transporter. When he dropped off the Mazzerati, the owner asked what is that car. The driver said oh, that's a Ferrari. The Mazzerati owner said , no not that car, the little red one. Well it turns out he had never seen one and now "has to have one". The most important point...my wife absolutely loves the car. :D

Baiting Hollow. I am president of an AACA region(Peconic Bay) and we host 35 activities per year so there is plent to do out here. Martha Clara Vineyard just approached us and they are now hosting a car show 5/29 to benefit The Wounded Warrior Project. A great cause and venue as well. Everyone is invited.

Regards,

Steve

Well Saturday was a beautiful day on the island so I took her out for the first time. My wife and I had a great time and drove on many scenic backroads. For quite a while I've been driving cars with large displacement engines, so I had to get used to the power band. A fun little screamer that I had to muscle through the tight corners. Yep a blast from the past....
