Road trip get together?

For those of you in the Alberta, Northwest US, BC areas...

My uncle does the Edmonton to Vancouver drive every spring to attend the All British Field Meet (http://www.westerndriver.com/abfm/index.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). He makes the 14 hour drive in his '70 Lotus 7. Here is it on Wikipedia mistakenly labelled as a "replica"...it is a real 7. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Lotus ... 970_A2.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

We didn't make the trip last year because it was stupid cold and raining so this year we're hoping the weather is better.

I like to tag along for the drive (not necessarily the event although there are some cool rides there) and this will be the first trip over an hour or so in the 69 2000 since the engine rebuild.

I'll be in Vancouver the May 21 weekend. If anyone wants to get together let me know. Depending on your feelings about British cars you could check out the event or skip it and join me for a cruise in the area. ...maybe Ross will be around.

I'll probably try to attend the show @ Van Dusen, it's a great show that I usually end up missing. If time allows, I might be up for a cruise somewhere...I hear the drive to Squamish is lovely at that time of year. ;)

So despite the fact that the weather is supposed to start sucking tomorrow I am still making the trip (of course it is 30 degrees here today...why can't that weather stay for the weekend?) . I'll be staying in Kamloops or Merritt on Thursday night then on to Ross' Friday afternoon for a few parts. Not sure where I am staying yet Friday night. Saturday is the All British Field Meet on Saturday (I will go scoff at MGBs).

Anyone going to be around on the weekend for a get together?

Also, can any of you Vancouverites recommend a hotel in the downtown core ( or near-ish the Van Dusen Botanical Gardens) with underground secure parking?

Feel free to call on the weekend. My cell number is 780-906-0307.

Dave

It's been quite a few years since I've been to this show, but I've had it pegged on the calender for a few months.
There are a lot of nice rides there.
I'll be checking out the 7's and looking forward to meeting you and your Uncle.

IF the weather network is correct, it's SUPPOSED to be sunny all weekend here.......and the drive to Squamish/Whistler is worth the trip!

Doesn't look like I'll be able to make it to Van Dusen on Saturday due to "family obligations" (crap I don't want to do but am being forced into!).

If its nice on Sunday I may be up for a cruise / meetup somewhere?

I likely won't be hanging out at the show ALL day so I'll play it by ear. You guys have my cell number so please feel free to give me a call. Like I said, the plan is to meet Ross on Friday afternoon, Saturday morning show for sure, then...?

Well, it's 8.30AM on Sunday and it's raining cats and dogs (or should that be "Datsun cogs"?) here in Squamish. Doesn't look like the roadsters gonna get out of the garage today - sorry Dave. :(

Did you go to Van Dusen yesterday? Any photos?

Hey Daryl. Nice to meet you and Bea.

Eddy? Yes, I made it to the Van Dusen event. It was, as usual, a great show. I left on Sunday morning at 5 to make sure I got to Kelowna early in the day. I wanted to take in a full day of racing at the Knox Mountain Hill Climb. A few Datsuns there but not surprisingly no roadsters.

I'll see about some pics a bit later.
