Rear bar on tops

Is there anything special about the rear bar on the soft top and tonneau (sp?) covers? Or can I just get any piece of metal with the same dimensions?

The bar is actually curved and has little chamfers where the rear deck clips make contact. It is not a straight piece of metal. With a pattern, a little heat and tweaking on a straight bar you could probably make something that would work. I am sure someone like Mike Young would have a few of those lying about. Not a clue as to what he would charge but it could not hurt to ask. Maybe even Sid might have one he would part with!

Yup, I have a few lying about in the garage. Thanks for the plug!
Oddly enough, the one for the 3 seat 1500s is a bit different - looks very easy to replicate. The 1600/2000 and 2 seat 1500s has the chamfers and bends you described. It could be replicated, but would take some time to do.
