Rear bar on tops

Post by SER240Z »

Is there anything special about the rear bar on the soft top and tonneau (sp?) covers? Or can I just get any piece of metal with the same dimensions?

Thanks
Scott

The bar is actually curved and has little chamfers where the rear deck clips make contact. It is not a straight piece of metal. With a pattern, a little heat and tweaking on a straight bar you could probably make something that would work. I am sure someone like Mike Young would have a few of those lying about. Not a clue as to what he would charge but it could not hurt to ask. Maybe even Sid might have one he would part with!

Steve,

Yup, I have a few lying about in the garage. Thanks for the plug! Oddly enough, the one for the 3 seat 1500s is a bit different - looks very easy to replicate. The 1600/2000 and 2 seat 1500s has the chamfers and bends you described. It could be replicated, but would take some time to do.

If anyone needs one, contact me off list!
