SoCalROC Toy Drive

Post by Fairlady66 »

Dear fellow Roadster enthusiast,

As the holiday season quickly approaches so does the 2nd Annual SoCalROC Show-N-Shine Toy Drive which is only 7 weeks away. As November 7, 2009 is quickly sneaks up on us, we are working hard to make sure everything is in place. As you can imagine, an event of this scale requires some attention to detail. Though our main purpose is to gather toys for the children, we want to make this a fun time for all and draw as many people in as we can; more people equals more toys.

Our sponsors have been gracious. Although their sponsorship is not in the form of funds, we do appreciate their much-needed support (more is still needed here as well if you are a vendor and wish to donated funds or item for raffle your name will be put on our website and flyers). However, we are in need of some funds for this event. Our need is not huge; actually thanks to our sponsors and some club members volunteering, our needs are rather small compared to other events of this caliber. Nevertheless, we do have a need for this Toy Drive to be a success. Our funding goes towards a dual cause. First, we need money to pay for the expenses of the event. Second, we are holding this at the Datsun Heritage Museum which is a non-profit organization and they are letting us use their facility for free. Therefore, any leftover funds will go to support the legacy that the museum is working so diligently to preserve.

If you can donate any amount, $10, $15, $20, $30, or more, it will go to a great cause and your name will be included on the card given with the toys when they are delivered. You can also designate your funds to buy a toy, just be sure to say so when you send in your funds.

Funds can be sent via PayPal directly to socalroc@gmail.com

Thank you for your support and showing that Roadster owners care.

Yours truly,

We have a little less then a month to go until the SoCalROC 2nd Annual Show-N-Shine Toy Drive, and we are still in need of some funds, we need about $300 to get expenses paid before hand. Oh, the Show will go on, but it is MUCH more pleasurable if expenses are paid for in advance so nothing has to be cut out of the program. Our sponsors have given some great items for the raffles but no funds. So if you are able to help there is a PayPal account set up. All funds can be sent via PayPal to socalroc@gmail.com

To Show off your Datsun log onto: http://www.socalroc.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and download your registration form.

REMEMBER THIS SHOW IS ABOUT BRINGING IN TOYS FOR THE CHILDREN

We are excited about this years event, not only do we have a couple of great guests, but we know there is going to be some really Awesome Datsuns and their owners there as well. I have NEVER met a Datsun Owner I didn't like

Thanks for your help

We have added a new category for the Show-N-Shine Toy Drive. So that those Datsun Owners that feel their car is not nice enough to show, or for those that have totally rusted out unrestored cars, over the edge customs and other works in progress we have the category for you. "Diamond In The Rough". Datsuns entering this category MUST be highway safe and driven to the event. There will be one award given in the category and it will be a kind of a reverse win from the other categories. The award will go to the Roughest Diamond. To Download a registration form log onto: http://www.socalroc.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hurry and get your registration in, time is running out!

If you are not showing a car, please come out with the family, bring a Toy and enjoy the day.

Remember this event is about Toys for the children at Shrinner's Crippled Children's Hospital

Well here we are at the count down. Things have come together in a natural way of proving that a good time is in store. There is a few hours left for the online registration and then it rolls over to an extra five bucks for on-site registration. Even paying the extra five bucks and bringing a toy is still a great deal. We have some awesome raffle prizes, a great classic rock band, a wonderful food vendor, great Datsun Owners, and where you have a show-room classic or a rough diamond you stand a chance to be a winner, we have some really great awards to be given out. Not to mention our celebrity judges. So, remember to tell your friends, it is only the Car Show that is restricted to Datsuns; the entire event is open to the general public. So grab a toy and come on out and plan to spend the day with us.

What: 2nd Annual SoCalROC Show-N-Shine Toy Drive
When: Saturday November 7, 2009 from 10:00am to 3:00pm
Where: The Datsun Heritage Museum
Address: 41610 Date St, Suite 103 · Murrieta, CA 92562
Cost: $10 to register for the Car Show online before 11:00pm on Friday November 6, 2009 and an unwrapped Toy - $15 to register the day of the event on-site and an unwrapped toy

I hope to see you there

Enjoy the ride

Short report on the SoCalROC Toy Drive

Post by Fairlady66 »

The 2nd Annual SoCalROC Show-N-Shine Toy Drive was a great success. The pile of toys that were brought in was breath taking, the funds raised was outstanding. Going into this event with all expenses paid and debt free is something most events of this size only dream of. If it wasn’t for those of you that gave above and beyond to help support this cause it would not have happened. I am proud to be among such a great group of people.

A total of 45 Datsuns, and over 200 people helped make this event a fun day. John Morton and Jamie Howe made a great team. Jamie’s husband Bryan Sellers (NASCAR Driver) was also in attendance. As an added surprise Don Davendorf and John Knepp showed up.

There will be much more news on this event in the next issue of Roadster Ramblings. A few pictures will be posted as soon as we get them.

All The members of SoCalROC, the MoVal/JDM group and the SWDP crew, helped make this event possible. Thanks to all of you here on the 311s that stepped up and supported this event.
