We could not have asked for better weather this past weekend for for the vintage races at Elkhart Lake: low eighties with a light breeze.

Dan, Ken, Steve and I all met at the Elkhart Lake track Saturday for some track touring and classic race care drooling--once again I saw cars I had never before seen in person; very little American muscle but loads of fantastic European, British and Japanese classics. Hopefully the pictures taken of all of us touring will be available soon. Link(s) to follow from Dan and the professional photographers that were on the track. Satruday evening we walked through a show car concourse at the Osthoff resort where we stayed Saturday night. There were even more beauiful cars there. How about that Allard or that 53 (?) Jaguar!!

Sunday we made new Roadster friends when we drove to Joy and Mike Johnson's farm where we were treated to coffee and pastries and four PERFECT 2000 Roadsters: one from every year of production! Joy and Mike, you have a truly amazing fleet. I think I can speak for Dan and Ken when I say we are very envious!! Thanks again for letting each of us drive one of those beauties!!! After coffee, car talk, a tour of Mike's personal lift garage and more drooling, we took off for close to three hours of touring and twisties in the Kettle Morraine area. What fun!! Lunch at the Benson's Hideaway on the Long Lake in the Kettle Morraine
Forest was a blast--great call Charlie!

The day ended too quickly with Roadsters going their own way one by one along the way as each couple peeled off from the group to head home.

Hopefully we can all get together again before the snow flies...unless of course there are others of you crazy enough like me to do a polar bear run!!! Any one interested?

Thanks again to everyone who was there, Connie and I had a great weekend!!

Ditto everything Tim said. Great people, cars, and weather.
Thanks to Michael and Joy for their hospitality and generosity for allowing 3 strangers to take their beautiful cars out for a drive. What a wonderful view being at the back of a line of 6 Datsuns cruising around the hills of Wisconsin.
Track touring at RA was a blast as well. Thanks to "Coach" Steve J for some tips on the fast way around the track. At least as fast as the 1600 could muster...
Can't forget to mention the 9 Datsun's racing this weekend, including one roadster. SWEET! Unfortunately Steve wasn't racing, but did put on a little dirty drifting exhibition somewhere on the back forty.
Of course, I forgot my camera, and my cell phone died just as I was trying to take a picture with it. ARGHH!! Oh well, Dan took a ton of photos.
Hope everybody made it home safely.
Can't wait for the next Dairyland Datsun's get together.
Tim, do you have more than one set of snow chains??

Well Tim and Ken said it all. This was definitely the best event I have been involved in. Can't wait to get back to RA again.

There was a group of photographers taking pics of the touring group on the track, so hopefully we will have some good pics of our roadsters in action. I will post a link to those pics when they are available. Unitl then, here is a link to the photos that my wife and I took. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=3 ... d2584ff68e" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Unfortunately she did not come to the track, so she could not catch us in action.

Thanks again to all!

Dan

Wow, looks like you all had a blast. Great pictures. It is fun with two Roadster but you had quite the gathering. RA is on my must visit someday list.
