Road America

Hello All;
I believe this is my very first post. Primairly a lurker learning everything I can here.
On Sunday, we made a split decision to drive up to Elkhart Lake and spend the day at Road America. We made it in time to tour the track. My first time, but definitely not my last. We were lined up with some absolutely beautiful cars. Seriously out horsepowered and outclassed, but I'm sure nobody had more fun than I did. There are a few rules, and an, ahem, 70mph speed limit. RIIIIIIGHT.... You are allowed to pass in the straights, but not in the corners, "but watch yourself going into the corners in case somebody is passing".
We were toward the end of the line getting onto the track. A bunch of Corvettes, Minis, a few GT40's, a couple of race cars touring too. And one little '67 1600 Datsun. I can say we honestly passed a Toyota p/u, a Ford sedan, and fought off a PT Cruiser trying to pass us going up the hill in the front straight. I slowed down at times to let some much faster cars pass in the beginning, but got bolder as the time progressed. In all, we spent about 45 minutes circling the 4 mile course. My skinny little street tires were getting a little squiggly toward the last laps as I got bolder. I lost track of how many laps we made. My face still hurts from smiling.

but there are some other cars of less interest on there too. My favorite is of what I will call: Me, chasing down a Porsche, heading into turn 7. As far as you know, he didn't stand a chance... and left the track weeping. Can't wait for the September races.
