Just registered for the show! I will not be taking the Roadster this year (competition is too tough, I'm going trophy hunting! ). I plan on being there with my 1977 Honda Accord, hopefully with my Canadian/American hybrid engine installed. (The canadian cars did not have the CVCC system) If I'm lucky, I may have also figured out how to adapt the DPFI system to this engine. Anyways, here's the link if you so desire.

Too bad it is at that park again. Not a fan of that spot. The Queen Mary was so much nicer.

I spoke with the JCCS organizers, they are working on the dust problem. This is their 5th year anniversary, should be a good show.

I agree...that location was priceless. More exposure to the general public, tourists too.

I think we might actually hot the 20 mark. It will be close.

18 preregistered. But they gave us the new category anyway.

Anybody can have a "pretty car", that just takes money. Showing up in a car you fixed up yourself is what separates an enthusiast from an owner. Remember, even an ugly convertible is always better than a pretty hardtop.

Well half the guys there will have pretty cars, and that they fixed themselves.
I'm not in to the competition,so that isn't an issue, but there is a minimal standard I have that isn't met yet.
And that isn't an "excuse" y'all

its not about winning. it's about participating and having pride in what you own. enjoying time with other people with the same interest. and having fun!!!!!!!!!!!! my roadster has a long way to go but i take it out every chance i get. from local sonic shows to solvang. my car is stock and i park next to other cars with tons of money poured into them. knowing that there is stuff people dont see or appreicate in what i have done to this car. my main focus is to have pride in what i own and try to keep my car has original has possible. this will be my first time at jccs and am very excited to attend. i registered on july 1 . im number 15. looking forward to having fun and that is the bottom line. i hear alot of negative about the location and a dust problem which has already addressed and that is what cleaning supplies are for.
i enjoy helping when i can with socalroc activities such has the dhm events . i also feel good that i am sometimes able to help someone with either parts or turning people on to other people that can help them locate parts. i also have had people help me with parts and pass the favor forward. that is my fun.

I was at a local show today, no chance for a trophy, too many really nice cars in my class. The pre-war Jaguar, 3 perfect XKE's and BillK's 19,000 mile all original VW Bug pretty much put me out. I would have had a shot if it was raining, maybe.
I wrote my disclaimer on the windshield card:

"Dented, Scratched, and a little Dirty, Driven hard and thoroughly enjoyed"

Not sour grapes, just silliness...The winner of the "unrestored 1970 to present " class was a 2009 Nissan GTR. Of course it won, it's perfect, it's BRAND NEW Second place was a 2003 Mercury Marauder, a black taxicab with some decals...Now there's a classic, in 30 years, maybe. Surprise, there was no applause when the winners were announced. Not unfair judging, just a bad class designation.

It's billed as an Antique Car Show, all years and makes welcome, but lets get real. I should have entered Linda's 2009 Mini Clubman, we could have at least gotten a second place over the Merc .
