More Parts "Lost"

Post by DatsunBucky »

I went to the local Nissan dealer today to buy suspension parts, and after thinking that they were available, found out that 99996-1750A and 99996-17510 (both are comp shocks) are no longer available (NLA). Steve, you might want to double check this and maybe add to the competition parts numbers file.

Dash blast all the blankety heck! Now I've got to try to find some competition shocks that are within my budget. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated and considered.

Also, is Mike Young available over the 'net or just by phone? I want to get some of those Datsun Sport comp front springs. .

It does not surprise me that they are NLA. That will probably become the norm rather than an occasional thing. Mike can only be reached via the landline. He is pretty easy to get a hold of and will return your call if you leave a message. The front springs he had made are well worth the money. I have yet to install mine but have heard nothing but good things from those that have.

Not sure but they may still be available through Koni. If not, there's plenty of used ones out there that can be rebuilt. I bought mine years ago from Imparts in St. Louis. $46.19 each back in 1990. Maybe they still have a set lying around.

When I talked with the Koni guys last fall, when they were re-valving my shocks, they said that the 1750/1751 roadster shocks were still available.

Mike Young may even have some use Koni's. I picked up a complete set some time back from him for a reasonable sum.

I called Mike and left a message to call me back about the springs. If/when he calls me back, I'll try to remember to ask him about shocks, too.

Bucky you can purchase either the Stock Quality KYB GR2 shocks or the KYB Gas-Adjusts from Summitt Racing, at last check the Fronts were 27.99 for the Fronts and 29.99 for the rear.

PS I believe that Steve has the part numbers somewhere on the website. I really like the Gas Adjusts. Also the Nissan Motorsports Comp Springs should still be available from your Nissan Dealer.

The Nissan Motorsports Comp Springs were the ones I wanted to buy, but was told by the parts guy in the dealership that they were no longer available. Thankfully I won't need them to do the springs or the sway bars.
