Its been fun and interesting for me Linda .Thanks for your kind words . Before this started i wasn't even aware there were Factory Hardtops for our cars . Getting to work with other members on this project has made me a Big Fan of 311s.org . Can not say enough good things about Jack from Smoothling . He has spent many hours going over even the smallest questions i ask. It looks like we will have a 1500 Factory Hardtop to work from , very close to the 311 top

A few members have asked about a price on the Factory Hardtop . I spoke to Jack at SL today and brought this up and his reply was that he will be able to give out more info on this after he has a proto type built and finished . Also the number of members who might order one of these tops will help bring the cost down . Other things like reproducing original hardware are also on the table . I fell that we are lucky to work with a company that will go thru the extra work to make what we want . I will try to pass on more info as i get it

The weather strip that goes on the bottom rear of the top that sits on the cockpit trim may be different for 1500 to early 1600 because one is a 3 piece metal arrangement and the other is a one piece vinyl covered trim. Nissan had different part numbers for the weatherstrips on the low and high windshield 311's. I will try to determine what the difference is soon. They even superseded the early low weatherstrip to another for the low windshield models.
They seemed to make changes in the tops from time to time. There are two tops in Socal that have different shape rear windows.

Smoothline is waiting on a 1500 Factory Top to be delivered to there shop so that he can pull a mold from it .Profile is very close to the 311 LW Factory top . With some minor mods we should have something nice . Spring ???

I totally forgot about this but I saw a factory hardtop on Mike's "roadstermike" roadster at Solvang:
Maybe he can chime in with more detailed info on the top for you!?

Those latch brackets look correct for the rear of the low windshield Roadster Convertible top, but the hooks attached are incorrect. Mine has simple eye bolts with an adjustable nut

Here is a picture from the hard top side of the mount, it uses the same Eye-bolt set-up as the convertible top. Will look for more pictures.

I will say that just because they are different, doesn't mean they are not correct, I just haven't seen those J-hooks before.

Those are both aftermarket hooks.
