My attempt at tackling of some interior rust (and pretty much the only rust).

Most holes accounted for (questions below)
2 frame bolts
4 or 5 carpet snap screws
1 large drain plug hole

QUESTIONS:
1. Does everyone have two sets of seat holes in the floor, with factory tape covering the forward set?
2. There are two open holes hidden under the soundproofing right about where your heels go. What's up with those?

Rust? where? Shes a beaut Garm!

Yep two sets of seat holes.

What size are the heel holes? 1/8? (snaps)
May have been drilled by PO. I dont recall my 69 having heel holes. (just 2, 1/8" snap holes).

Fun chipping that stuff out of there, eh?

^ Yeah that was a bear. The rust helped.

@ pebbles: The "hidden holes" are about 1cm in diameter, and under the original soundproofing/tar stuff. So they must have been put there from the factory. I'll try to take a pic tomorrow.

LOL about the shift knob.... I started to take the console apart and got overwhelmed.... patience prevailed.

1cm or 10 mm? Neither my 68 or 69 have two such holes. Under the tar, hmmm. Are they in the upper ridge or lower?
My heels were hanging up in the broken tar, so I will be tackling this removal as well ,,,at some point.
I have removed about 10 inches of it from under the pedals, the double clutching is now a breeze.

The passenger side may be as "bad" as the drivers (not that they were bad compared to mine!). To remove the tar mat, cover it in dry ice, wait a bit, then hit it with a rubber mallet. I've heard the stuff cracks right off. Wish I had known that 25yrs ago... think my hands are still bruised from chippin that crap off.

I tried that method and it did not really work that well for me. I used a wood chisel and hammer, and wire wheel.

"Bubba" is in the drain hole. On each side of him are two carpet snaps and way off to his right is (I think) a frame to body bolt.

Yep there sure are, In the ridge just aft of the drain hole. guess I didn't pay any attention to them cuz there is no reason for them being there. Must be a tooling hole for mfg?

68DSU, this is what we are referring to:

pic of the inboard hole, (dash really, but the hole is visible).

Could just put a plug in it or foil tape and undercoat both sides.

What is you plan for coating the floorboards? Bedliner? dynamat? race car paint?

Wasn't there a factory accessory footrest? Might have been Amco. Those holes would be pass side on a RHD car.

I put 1" squares of carbon fiber sheet over them and the extra seat stud holes.
Cool stuff, very strong, adhesive backing.

I'm in a "if it doesn't do something, it's coming off the car" mood at the moment.

I haven't scraped the passenger side yet, will be interesting to see if those holes are over there.
