I DROVE to Quicksilver park in Almaden then through some twisties near Guadalupe Reservoir...it's cold here about 48F with some rain in the forecast so I had to take her out while it's dry!

Partly cloudy sky and almost 70 degrees here so I DROVE to ZCarGarage on Sat to check out a customer's new 2012 GTR!

I was fortunate to drive it for a few miles and did a write-up for the blog:

First roadster drive of 2011! Does it count if my wife was in the car and I was pushing? Total of 150 ft, from the U-haul trailer to the driveway.

Cruised around Katy, TX. Ran a few errands..

Stopped by the local Barber shop and got cut a haircut :)

Then stopped by the local Quick Lube , and had my buddy Rueben lube the chassis and put in some fresh fluid in the differential. I HATE the smell of gear oil.

Beautiful weekend in Houston, TX with temps in the mid 70's. Went to the local car gathering at Diner 59, where there was a huge turn out of over 150 cars.

Jackie and I too took advantage of the glorious weather to venture out. There was a local gathering of hot rods up in Conroe and a car/motorcycle show over in Tomball.

Tomball, check out this highly modified Healy. Has a Ford 5.0 V8 and no doors. Didn't somebody do something similar to a Roadster?

Brilliant day! Made all the better because I finlly got some straight wheels mounted on my car. The previous Minilites are cast offcenter (hub and rim are true but the rim width varies) and are impossible to balance out. Typical British quality control...... Now it runs smooth!!

Anything you're not telling us , Alvin?

Well I'd guess that the "three of us" did not refer to the Roadster! :-)

Can you imagine the sheer volume of baby pictures he's going to take?
Time for a 1500?
Maybe 2 more weeks and I can post something here not involving pushing one onto a trailer, weather is looking better finally.

Does a few inches backward and a few inches forward under its own power in the garage count? After almost a year of pushing it back and forth I was happy.
66 stroker, almost done.

Yesterday we just returned from a week away in Adelaide. About 900km (call it ~540 miles) each way. Spent four days at Womadelaide world music festival, and then wandered to some wineries in the wonderful Mclaren Vale region just south of Adelaide.

Image

Half in Victoria, half in South Australia.

Image

In the shade of an olive tree at Lloyd Brother's vineyard - one of our favourite vineyards in the region, which also has extensive olive groves. We bought many yummy delicacies here!

The car ran great the whole time - all we did in preparation was a quick oil change and lube of the front end the day before, and we (Lou and I) re-installed the windscreen washer which had come out for an overhaul a while back. Needed it, too, with a couple of places plastering the front with bugs. Not a great *driving* holiday - the trip across is just major highway, but fun nontheless.
