Steven,
You are a race car driver with a race mechanic now. Why are you running 420 treadwear tires???? Put some race rubber on those bad boys!
After hours and hours of reading Wheel And Tire commnets I ordered a set of Rota's. I went with 15 X 7 with +12 offset in Gunmetal. 18racing had them on line indicating they were a direct fit for the roadster with Big Caps. Although I am doing the Spriso Nissan brake kit I put one of the wheels on the stock hub with the cap and it fits fine so it looks like RB has fixed the issue for the roadsters.
Now i need to see what tire I can tuck in there. Was thinking of 205-50-15 in front and 205-60 15 in the rear. Has any one ran this size in front or rear with the above wheel? I have stock rear and comp front suspension.

It will be thicker, require more watering and will be harder to mow....

Nice! Please add this to the wheel thread when you get them mounted!
I think 195/50/55 up front with the same in back is "safe" though some have reported rubbage with even those tires. 205/60/15 is really tall.

Oh come on...I did wrap the duct tape around twice
Found a local exhaust shop that offered to give me a hand, call Affordable Muffler in Houston. I started explaining the issue and what a 'Datsun Roadster' is. The shop owner, said he just completed a full exhaust install on a Blue 68 2000 last Saturday!!
Okay...who has the fully restored 68 2000 in Houston!

See if he can weld on a 3 bolt flange and add a flex pipe. IIRC, a standard 2.5" header flange fits.

Crazy thing is I had the entire exhaust system replaced only a few years back. I must be the only guy who kept the original exhaust manifold early clamp design, and added in a flex pipe to the system. I think I just need to reposition the exhaust pipe (connected to the flex pipe) about 1/4 inch to allow the system to connect properly.
Otherwise, I will bite the bullet and swap over to a 3-bolt flange and rewoke things.

Is it a convex/concave type connection? Grease the convex, and it should self align. the grease will burn off.

Tires mounted on the wheels, went with your advice Alvin, 195-55-15 with 15x7 +12 on all four corners, . Caps fit on the Rota wheels with no issues but I did have problems with the front hubs not allowing the wheels to seat flat on the hub. I had a slight ridge on both front hubs where the face met the center section. The wheels have a machined recess but it was not deep enough for the wheel to lay flat on the hub face. I will be curious to see if any one else has the same issue with the big cap wheels or if my hubs were poorly machined. I just took my die grinder and removed the excess material and shaped both hubs to fit.

Yah! No more exhaust fumes! Brought the 1500 roadster in 1st thing in the morning for exhaust repair. Installed a 3 bolt flange set-up to the stock exhaust manifold, new flex pipe and swapped in a new glass pack exhaust (the old muffler made the car sound like a Tercel). Much better. Now I need to head over to James' to properly time the ignition and tune the carbs.
Nothing fancy, but the price was great, and he had the parts available in the shop.
