2mAn wants a template that attaches to the car body work from a known point or two, so when the emblem holes are drilled, they are where they should be. Correct?

Thats exactly it!... luckily Alex (ACote) has his car pretty well stripped and sent me several pics and it gave me the confidence to drill the panel

I have another question...

I recently swapped my '68 tank to a '67 tank and I went from having a feed line and a second line (smog stuff?) to having just one feed line. My smog line was already capped in the engine bay, so can I now remove it? I have a non-smog head, no smog equipment and now a line that is just... there...

I was going to remove it last night, but figured I should ask if there is any reason I SHOULD keep it installed?

Also, I noticed that the feed line is a smaller diameter than the smog line, which Im assuming is a return line. Would this be a beneficial thing to people who are going FI?

The entire smog setup has been long gone and the only piece left from the smog setup was the line that went from the fuel tank to the engine bay. We initially capped the line down at the bottom of the pass side part of the engine bay. The line follows the regular fuel line along the frame and goes back to the tank. Now that my "new" tank doesnt have an attachment for it, the line is not connected to anything at all. I was thinking about removing it but not sure if there is a good reason to keep it... I cant think of one so Im asking y'all

Oh I see. Does not seem like a reason to keep it unless you get a late tank due to problems with vapor lock?

Sometime in the 69 model year, the latch was changed from a single post to a post with a safety catch. If your latch on the body has a square hole beside it, then the post may or may not line up.

post should line up = there is some flexibility in the positions. the only issuue would be if installing a 70, then you will have to remove the safety latch - not that big a deal since it is all forward hinged and just bounces

Anyone have a part number for such thing as a new K&N air filter for SU's on a U20?

Trying to install passenger seat but the handbrake is getting in the way for the install. Unfortunately these seats are a little wide on the bottom.
Once installed I don’t plan to move it that forward so I don’t care about the afterwards. I just need to somehow remove that screw so I can push seat forward to drill back holes.

Also:
- no I can’t install it more away from the brake because there are bolts already in the floorboards that only allows that spot
- no I can’t do the back holes first because there simply is no room to properly measure and cut holes. Rails are extremely close and hard to get to without pushing forward all the way and then back

Any ideas? Does it make sense? Thanks all

I found this part attached to the magnet when I changed the fluid on my 69 (Warner I think) 5 speed transmission. It appears to be part # 61 or 66 (they are both the same part #) and it looks like there should three of these in each location. Transmission seems to be working fine albeit with a little weakness on third gear syncro. Any ideas of how this part could have dislodged, or future problems it's omission may cause?http://static.carpartsmanual.com/datsun ... 32C-01.jpg

Can you post a picture of what you found? That is really not good in my opinion. That should not be able to happen. If it were me, I'd get the transmission apart ASAP as if you do start to have major issues it will get very expensive quickly. About the only way I can think that those would come off is if the nuts on the mainshaft have backed off, and allowed the gears/synchronizers to separate enough for this to fall out. Even if this is a random chunk of metal, it's not good.
