You are right. The later ones are a whole lot beefier for sure. I think we will both be fine. Super hot here today so I am taking a day off.

Time to plan for insulation, improved ventilation, and maybe even A/C for the shop, eh?

Pete,

Shop is insulated and with the back door open and a nice breeze it is pretty nice in there. Today is 95 with a heat index of 100 plus. The humidity is the real kicker. I need a day off anyways.

Well, even though it was hotter than you know what is is hard to stay out of the shop. I got the engine off of the engine stand. Put the last freeze plug in where the cam is. Put the 5 speed backing plate on and installed the crankshaft bushing. Got the fly wheel installed-just need to torque it down. Needed to make a run to Farm and Home for some missing bolts. Got most of what I needed. Installed the competition sway bar. Still need to tighten the drivers side. Also got the tranny mount installed. A couple of pics.

We definitely do not have Farm and Home in Los Angeles, we probably should :)
Good to see you are getting so much done, Steve. A few years ago you never posted at all...

Got the flywheel, clutch cover and the tranny installed on the engine. Then I installed the complete assembly into the frame. I used the stud method discussed on here before. That worked very slick and made it much easier for a single person to get everything lined up. Next up is dragging it to the exhaust shop to get that fabricated and installed. I did purchase one of JT's super nice mufflers for the rear. That is the only part you will see of the exhaust any ways.

A few pictures.

You going to dyno it once it's driveable?

Probably just seat of the pants dyno. I am putting an O2 sensor bung in the exhaust so I can fine tune the 40's if needed. Dave P is pretty spot on in getting the carbs to run correctly out of the box. Nice to have the bung though.

Where will you place the bung? Will the O2 sensor then run to somewhere to connect something for tuning?

Yes, new and pretty. Mine is still sitting in the box. I manage to straighten the bent terminal on my extra IR alternator today.

Bung goes right after the flex coupling pointing inwards. Will just hook up an air/fuel meter when messing with the carbs. Will cap it off when not in use.
