Congrats on the new purchase. Do you have any pictures?

While I understand your urge to wash your hands of the deal, a running car will sell faster and for more money than one that doesn't.

Pictures are really hard for me to post. I'm guessing the file size is too big? Almost every one I try to upload gets denied. Maybe I need to change my camera save quality? Here is one i was able to upload. This is it right after I spent 6 hours detailing it.... and no I'm not exaggerating :)

Nice! I'm right at hwy 39 near Glendora mountain road (about 35-40 min north from you). Let me know if you ever want to plan a drive.

Great! To be specific I’m in Santa Ana, CA. I’m really hoping to get in contact with others located near me when I go to Solvang.

Very nice looking car. I'm glad to see your initial experience didn't sour you on these cars or our community.
Congrats to sticking to your initial plan and not letting a major setback and frustration deter you!
I hope you're able to enjoy your purchase for year to come.
Dan

When are you heading out? I still have a few things to get done on mine to make sure I can make it there, and then I need to finalize where Im sleeping... either way, Im off that Friday and the weekend, so worst case you can come see my Roadster and I can drive the "support vehicle" if the Roadster itself isnt ready. Im guessing you'll likely take 5 up to 101 from Santa Ana, but if you decide to take 405, Im just off of it and the 10.

We should try and organize a South of Solvang run!

I just stumbled across this old thread, and without seeing the car in person to asses just how many parts were missing or its actual overall condition, something struck me about his car. It hadn't been registered since 1975 and the title was still in the original owner's name (with the title still showing the bank lein from financing it!). So this is apparently a one-owner, rust-free, black plate California car that was only driven for 5 years and then mothballed. That probably is the original paint. I sure hope it went to someone who got it running and appreciated what a unicorn it is, and didn't get parted out.

If Mackn367 is still here on 311s, maybe we could get an update on the fate of the red car?

Hey! Sorry I haven’t come on this site in years bc I have just been so busy with other stuff but I happen to check my notifications and saw this post. So I haven’t kept in touch with that red roadster sorry. Looking back now that I have way more knowledge/experience/resources/etc it actually would’ve been a great restoration. But in the end I do still feel the price should’ve been much much lower given all that it needed. But it’s all good bc I still have my ‘67.5 and still loving it.
