Very sorry to hear of the turn of events, Kelly. I can feel the frustration. Hope you still make it to Solvang; maybe it will have some healing quality for you? Hang in there. You are so close and we're pulling for you.

Maybe you can hook a ride with someone or go down anyway yourself. Otherwise there is Shasta and the Shedd, Ore BBQ coming up. Or just call a Fun Run when it is done and celebrate with the locals.
An ambitious project is bound to have some missteps...better than never leaving the couch!

Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.

Very frustrating for sure. No matter what, it is going to be a very cool and enjoyable car. All I can say, and not to be mystical or anything, is I've found that sometimes shit happens for a reason, so be open and willing to look for the silver lining that may exist in there somewhere... A new friend that would have otherwise not been made, an opportunity that now presents itself, or perhaps a disaster averted.

Your car WILL be done, you WILL enjoy it, and this WILL pass. My Datsun has probably taught me more about life and problem solving than all my graduate school psych classes!

I look forward to seeing this car in person, shaking your hand and talking about the process and what it taught you along the way!

Bummer on the interior. You could take the Z down and show that. No its not a roadster, but there are always a few other random Datsuns that show up.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm about to help a friend assemble a rolling chassis in 2.5 days. It needs everything assembled. Its going to be a lot of work. I have no clue if we can pull it off.

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!

Go to Solvang, afterward have a couple, maybe five roadsters show up at the shop,,maybe they have artists block. Seeing live beautiful roadsters will light a fire under their a$$es. Then, shoot for Shasta.
just a thought.

Life has been interesting. Since Solvang so much as happened and little of it has been to my car. The interior folks and I had a major parting of the ways. Long story but the effect was it halted everything until this month. So now the car got into the paint booth and a new interior shop has been found. Here she is with fresh paint.

Thank you for the nice comments!

The great thing is that even with all the ordeals/drama this restoration/customization has presented, my spouse wants a roadster now. We visited a car found out in a field just yesterday. Although we could easily find a car that is in better shape, the reason this car is being selected (not by me) is to "rescue another car". I suggested we buy one that is already close to the end desire and got a "that's not as appealing" comment back. Looking like we may just do another Roadster. But this one not to be as pretty, but to track is what I am being told. Time will tell.
