You will find it far less complicated to fit if you fit the manifolds after installation. I found that removing the oil filter also makes life a lot easier. As for the tail shaft, just mark the components with a paint pen and re-fit later. Too hard to maneuver all that stuff in one piece :(

I would say you could do the driveshaft on a 45 speed where it is bolted on, though it would really limit your range of motion with the Engine transmission combo. And yes, at least on an R16/H20 you can install the engine with the Intakes and carbs in place.

If I were to fill the transmission oil with the tranny out of the car, what would be the proper angle of the transmission so I get the right level? Or is it better to just wait till it's in the car?

If you add while out of the car you can check for leaks. I would just add the recommended amount that it calls for in the specs.

Exhaust and intake manifold thick washers. Does the convex or concave side go towards the engine?

Concave to the engine, convex to the nut

OOps, put them on backwards. They are staying that way because it's way too difficult to change them, lol. Many swear words today.

Copterpilot wrote: Thu May 24, 2018 8:34 pm Also, is it possible to install the engine/transmission with the driveshaft attached? I have it in phase and would like to avoid having to try to match things up after installation.
Wouldn't a thin line of paint across both sides help align/assemble once in car?

The driveshaft parts are marked with a 0 to show alignment
