Hi Linda,
Car would look nice with fresh paint indeed. To me that only adds anxiety to the ownership experience and thousands in body work and paint which would not add any enjoyment to me personally. The value is not there for me.

I get your concern, especially the thousands called for! However, if you are inclined, many members have prepped their own cars for paint. In some places you can still get the acrylic enamel paint job the car came with. Much more affordable. Many years ago my own Datsun was prepped and painted that way.
Just an idea if you are looking for a project. Your car is essentially straight so major bodywork not needed. Though you can spend a huge amount of time on this type of project, it is not so necessary to do so, IMHO. Quite a few body work/paint experts on 311 too for advice.

As a member of the "less than show quality" roadster fraternity, I feel that I can get can get a high level of enjoyment from my car with a much lower level of investment.
Driving my car is a joy every time, looking at it, not so much!

I’ve sourced my own enamel and then contracted with a shop to do the work in the past. An enamel job can look as nice as a two-stage, it’s just not as durable. If you strip the trim yourself, and even do a modest amount of of prep, you can save a bundle.

Currently Eliza looks like s*&t, with 4 inch PVC piping (storage) for bumpers, custom-made 2 gauge (tach/cluster) dashboard (made out of varnished plywood) - while I was waiting to install new dashboard, matteblack paint, except for trunk and hood, BUT, I still cannot stop for gas without a conversation starting up, and get plenty of convo at stop lights.
And she will get prettier, sometime, but not right now. She moves beautifully, just somewhat dumpy in appearance.

Very cool to see updates on this car! been a big inspiration for my project. Do you have any pics of the stainless steel bumpers? With all the trouble of getting the originals straightened and chromed in California those would be a good alternative for me! especially if the fit is nice

Ah! So that's what happened to spike! Guess I'm a little slow on the spool up, eh? I always liked that car. I bought my aluminum flywheel from Garm, love it.
