Great pictures all. What's the Roadster count? I think I can see about 25-27 so far.

Ah, fun in the sun! No pictures from me of course, but if the GoPro caught the run to the rocks and my just completed Castle Lake Rd blast, I'll surely be entertained this winter while she sleeps. It might have even caught the two jackasses that seemed to need more than their own lanes to pilot their cars... Good thing i was in full alert blast mode! As always, great people, wonderful cars in all states of restoration (or not!) and just that great Shasta feeling. It's off to the dinner here shortly, then Damn it Bill and tequila madness again (oh God no, noooooo!) before heading back north tomorrow. Love this group... You really are all FAMILY.

The family and I popped into Shasta on the way down to the Redwoods for a couple of hours on a thinly disguised family vacation -- Roadsters in Shasta as we are driving by? What a coincidence?! :) Nice to see so many familiar faces, even if it was only for a few minutes!

Hope you guys had a great rest of your day!

Michael

I had my own personal Shasta Norte in Hood River this morning. Bummed that I couldn't make it this time but there is still Shedd and Blue Lake left for the summer. See you there.

Thanks for sharing!

Ironbutt Shasta followup:

Left town @ 6:00 AM and headed north. Finished the day 13.5 hours and 672 miles later in Sandpoint ID... 50 miles from the Canuckistan border.

However, the real hero of the day was the roadster... 4 states, 3 tanks of fuel, minimal stops and 104°F on the I84 along the Columbia River and not much cooler through Washington state. Pulling hard uphill past semis and 5th wheel trailers. Temp gauge was near the top at times, but no loss of power.

I was finished at Sandpoint, roadster was ready to carry on.

Cheers,

Great weekend with fun Datsun folk, first trip, won't be our last.
650 miles back to the daily life in So Cal, already miss the clean air, water and beautiful scenery, mountain was nice too.

Thanks Bill and Garth for the warm welcome, hope you made it out of Napa driving on the right side of the road, and hope to make it to the BBQ.

Just rolled in to Tacoma an hour or so ago after spending the night at the infamous Damn-it Bill hacienda in Walton OR (what, did we NOT have enough tequila in Shasta Bill? Oh well... :-) ). Quick 90mph blast up good ol I5 with no incidents other than a short slow down to watch an old VW van burn to the ground (hope all were ok!). A minor main air jet change netted me another mpg it appears, getting 25mpg with an average speed of somewhere around 80-90mph (someone calculate what 4000rpm in 5th with 3.9gears and a 205/55/15 is in mhp cause my speedo popped the needle off just as I left Tacoma). Washington drivers proved once again to be the WORST left lane hogs, but the Blaster made short work of that as needed, and no signs of the WSP or any other such fun stoppers.
Once again, Shasta was great. Hats off to the organizers! I DO have to work on my raffle ticket skills however... Damn orange tickets! Made new friends (we initiated a new Canadian couple, Matt and Sue, into the family), learned more and more about friends and people I've known for YEARS, and gained even more perspective on life and love... Love of these cars, love of this family, and the true blessings that happen when they come together. This isn't a car show; this is a family reunion! I hope that everyone has had a safe and fun drive home and are already getting ready for next year. I/we (car AND wife this time) plan to be at Shedd in a few weeks... See you then!

Thanks, so roughly 80mph. Back in the day per Road and Track, 70mph was 3200rpms in 5th with a 3.7 final drive. I figured 3500rpms would be close to 70 with a 3.9 based on that, but of course tire size has changed too.
