Stainless is definitely weaker than today's high strength steel. But I'm sure you've twisted a stock OEM bolt head off on a roadster and I can tell you - it's not like today's high strength steel...

Well I had to get busy this weekend on 218. James is kicking my tail on his car, 132. So I wet sanded and fixed a few areas yesterday, and laid base/clear today. It turned out pretty good. I have a few "errors" to fix, but overall I am very very happy. The body work turned out very straight.

Sleepyzzz came over and helped out this morning. Thanks Butch!!!

Now to let it cure a little and get it over to the frame. We'll be moving right along then.

Bob

one pix keeps flipping. Up right pc, but sideways on 311. So turn your head. :?

There are some beautiful 67.5's coming together. But remember it's not a race - no mistakes in haste ! :-)
Great work!

Great work!
Only meant as a joke, no racing here. I have been working on this car for almost 3 years, and if it takes 3 more thats ok too.

The car is looking sharp Bob - I can't wait to see it trimmed out w/ chrome. Black and chrome is just an awesome combo.

Bob and I joke back and forth about our car projects. But it's not a race and we both help each-other out w/ stuff. Bob is a WEALTH of knowledge when it comes to these cars.

Cheers

I started color sanding 218 today. I started on the drivers fender and will work my way over the hood, down the passenger side, across the back, and up the drivers side. I hope to get this done over the next few weeks.

4! 4 67 2000s... Just how does that happen? At least they are in good hands! Fun and exciting times cutting and buffing. My last experience was more horrific however, having received bad advice and waiting too long for this paint product to harden... It was so hard it took me days (ya, like three, 14+ hour days) to buff the sanding scratches out of it.

The best product I've found by far for swirl marks (still there even post the use of swirl remover) was an Eagle One product call Nanowax. I tried most everything else, and nothing worked like this.

Looking forward to the final pics! Nothing like a black car, cut and buffed to a mirror finish. Worth every minute spent.

They just start multiplying!!!

Well I got tired of sanding and buffing and figured that if I scratched it when putting on the frame I would have to redo it. So I spent today bolting it to 218's frame. I broke out the tape measure and squared it with all four tires. I installed the steering column and put on a temp steering wheel. Now back to wet sanding and buffing.
