Yes, it sounds like you have the plumbing reversed, there may be an F or R on the cylinder, match up accordingly.
Search here or on Google regarding the "Lumpectomy" on the Miata seats, it'll take an inch out of the height.

I posted this reply to your question-- perhaps you did not see it:

The Front Brakes get plumbed to the reservoir closest to the firewall, the Rear Brakes to the outside reservoir. Many master cylinders have a F and R cast into them to prevent a mix-up!

Sorry is didn't se your reply Michael. Thanks for the help. Looks like I'm backward so some replumbing is in order.

OK swapped the brake lines and now have rear brakes. I wouldn't say the brakes are outstanding even with 300ZX fronts and Ford rear disks. But they'll do. I can lock them up if I push hard enough.

Cleaning up some wiring and starting to look at interior.

Anybody have ideas on the convertible top frame resto. I was trying to avoid drilling the rivets to blast and paint (or powdercoat). I figured some ceramic chassis black would work if I was careful around the joints. Thoughts?

Regards,
Steve

I painted mine, no problems with the joints/rivets. Of course I rarely, rarely ever use the top.

You might search changing the pedal ratio.

Good idea Phil. I'll probably drop from 7/8 bore MC to a 3/4 bore first. That should improve my pedal feeel by a factor of 1.35 and still wouldn't stress my firewall and more. If I need even more, I'll start the pedal ratio changes.
