If you have a spare console - I would consider modifying one, with the ability to go back to stock. I haven't seen many (any?) with a new style radio in the old style console that look good to me. There are a few highly modified dash/consoles where they have made it all look correct and work in my opinion. Otherwise I would go for mounting in the glovebox/trunk etc.
But that's just my opinion, and you know what that's worth - since everyone has one!

Unfortunately, I only have the original console. It has already been modified by a PO , so it isn't stock. I may use the glove box idea, but I will have to build a proper box for it to sit in/on....oh well, more projects!

Here are some pics of the sound deadener, and some of the carpet being reinstalled. Now onto the stereo!

I did some measuring a while ago, there's basically no way to get a DIN in there, face size or depth. So you are stuck with old style shaft radios or a RetroSound to fit the console.
Other option if you have the fabrication skills is make a new console, radio horizontal on top, then step it narrower and knobs and choke below. Done well it will look cool. It would only need to be about 3/4" wider if you kept the sides thin next to the radio.

Glove box works if you have an RF or Bluetooth remote.

I started to cut the console to put a DIN deck into the car. Very very tight. I know that the cut out goes all the way down to the curve. I know it will not be completely flush with the console. I will take pics next week when I finish it

IIRC, you need to notch the top of the tunnel and make a recess for the back edge of the stereo, as it goes in at a downward angle.. Top rear runs into the defroster duct, but that will smoosh out of the way a little.
If it works, it will be nice.

I'm afraid you might be exactly right. Oh Well, its not a perfect car by any means, so I guess I will have to take a ball peen hammer and whack the tunnel! OR, I might be able to shim the stereo out enough so that the bottom end just touches the tunnel area.

Radio is now in the console. What a freaking nightmare. All of your warnings were correct. I haven't taken pics of it yet but I will

I took my brake master apart to check the shape of the cylinder. I was amazed that the cylinder was extremely clean. No rust except for the last 1/2 inch by the rubber cap. I also took out the two nuts to check the rubber o rings, spring, and other rubber part. Just like the o ring in the cylinder all of the rubber was very plyable with no rips. I am tempted to bench bleed it to see if it leaks. I might have just got lucky and not need a rebuild kit. Am I kidding myself? It sat for 15 years.

Rebuild it while you have it out, cheap insurance!

Here is a photo of the console. Very tight fit...wouldn't recommend doing this again. It was way too tight against the defrost ducts. You need to use 90 degree RCA plugs if you use a DIN sized radio here.

I found a clutch Master cylinder from Beck Arnley. Looks identical to the roadster one. It cost about $60 here in BC Canada. I'm not sure you can read the numbers on the box, but there are 2 sets

Make sure your gas tank sealer didn't plug the inlet and outlet pickups inside the tank. Just check by blowing some air into them.

Thanks James, I will do that before I bolt the unit back into the car

make sure the clutch master cylinder rod is the same as the one you took out as that will change things if not adjusted properly. Also make sure the thread on the new one is standard and not metric.

Ditto what Ross said. You will probably have to cut some of the threaded rod off of the clutch master w/ a hack saw to get it adjusted properly...don't ask me how I know this.
