ACote wrote:Cool, stuff. You going with the zoadster vent rectangles on the side and black top half? I liked that one because it would be unique but still very roadster.

Ill be giving it a try. They were a bit tricky to get "just right", but I have the templates/ masks made.

New,,,er used guard. Headlight bucket is wacked, but I have some practice under my belt now to tackle that fairly well.

That's amazing. It almost looks like there's a water/rust line inside there! Good work.

Maybe condensation? colder metal nearer the ground?
There is a tiny rust hole inside the A pillar where it meets the rocker, I suppose if water got inside The A, and leaked into the fwd end there, it may have filled to that level. Parked on a downhill slope. Or through the door stay cutout or through the sill fastener holes. Water leaks can be deceptive. Does not appear to be drains in the front or rear pods.

When I opened my rocker and removed my A pillar there was no primer or paint inside there. It's a wonder there isn't more rust.

YAY,,,fender bolts! For some odd reason,,,I was waiting for something,,maybe planning out my next move on the rocker, and decided to pull the horns form Andy. Reason being, the grille support is pushed in a bit and I need to push it out with the ram. Removed the bolts and,,jeez these look like the same size as fender bolts :D. so I cut the horn bridges from the hulkster, trimmed them up and welded them to my new rocker piece. While I was cutting, I decide to cut the passenger side fwd rocker pod. The top tapers wider quicker than the bottom, but I only needed about 3-4 inches. cleaned up good, the top of the pods are WAY less rusty.
Time to hang the fender, hang the door and check the gaps, hope this fender fits.

I was surprised to see the green primer in the rocker. The outside of the body has red oxide on it. The hulk I cut the rocker from is a 67.5 and the inside of the rocker had red oxide in it, very little at that. The only other green I've found on the 68 is sandwiched between the door hinges on the door and A pillar.
I'm curious if anyone has come up with a gasket for the door stay thet would seal the hole when the door is closed.

Uninspiring :( someone welded a plate over the damaged fender, rather than pushing the grille support out. Wasnt sure what I would find under the bondo.

I am still chuckling about this,,,pulled the fender, doing a little tapping, clean up, go to work, next day go out to work on Andy a bit, and I see what looks like an hour glass spilled! This dirt, sand and rock trickled from the bulkhead stiffener overnight,,,,crazy,,,

Boy, you dodged a bullet. That's pretty cool though, yours comes with a beach! When I did the tapping on mine (with the blunt end of a screwdriver), I had to reach around the corner to grab it. Keep up the good work and thanks for the pictures.

This side needs the two lower fender bolts repaired, seems to be pretty solid though.
What a beach,,LOL
Once that is done and the grille support is done, it's massaging, filling and primer!! Woo hoo,,, oh ya the windshield frame,,, hmmmm :smt017
