Re: My new SPL311!!
I have been so busy with parts cars and the like that I haven't been able to get to my own project. I am finally caught up a bit and am starting to work on the rear differential housing and diff. While I was starting to strip it I ended up buying a set of Koni shocks and struts. I am almost done restoring them and just wanted to post a couple before pics of them. I should have them finished and pics posted in the next couple days. Once they are done I will be posting before and after pics of the rear end work.

Re: My new SPL311!!
I just finished painting the Koni's yesterday. I will wait a week for the paint to cure before I add the reproduction Koni triangle stickers. This weekend I will pull the rear end apart and start the rebuild.

How much does SinCityDatsuns charge for rebuilding Koni's? Turn around time? Do you have some in stock?

That would be correct. I leave that up to the professionals @ Koni.Alvin wrote:I got it, So SinCityDatuns restores the shock bodies but not the guts?

Re: My new SPL311!!
I finally got started on the rear end housing. I stripped it of the e-brake assembly, drums and shoes and brake line. I used some degreaser to get rid of the heavy stuff then went to the wire wheel and finally the 3M stripping wheel. I will get the last of the paint off using some aircraft stripper. Once it is bare metal I will remove the axles and diff and finish the housing off with the KBS coating system, just like I did with the frame. I included some pictures of another rear end I have that represents what this rear looked like prior to stripping. I forgot to take some before pictures of the actual rear.

Re: My new SPL311!!
Now that the 69 1600 project is done and sold I am going to finish this race car project! I have finished KBS coating the rear end housing and the drum brake plates. I have picked up all the necessary parts to put the rear back together with a fully rebuilt LSD. I will post more pics when it is all together in the next week or so. Also I have purchased all the bearings, seals and gaskets to rebuild the 5 speed. It should be off to the shop by next week for its overhaul.

Re: My new SPL311!!
I finished up KBS coating the leaf spring plates and bump stops. They turned out really well. Too bad most of this will never be seen to be appreciated once on the car. But at least I never have to worry about rust on those parts.

Re: My new SPL311!!
I just rebuilt the rear brake cylinders and put speed bleeders on them as well. Going over to keith Williams' place tomorrow to start blasting the front suspension parts so we can powder coat them. We will also be putting the rear end back together.

Re: My new SPL311!!
Did some front suspension work this weekend. We are cleaning up about four sets to powder coat and put back together. One of them is for the race car. I posted pictures of the steps we take to restore them. First you can see the assembly as it comes off the car then it is disassembled, next it is tumbled with some ceramic media to knock the big stuff off. Next it is media blasted to get into the cracks and crevices. The last step will be to zinc primer them and powder coat. We even found time to put the axles together. We didn't finish putting the rear end together as we determined the rebuilt LSD needs a little adjusting. The progress is starting to pick up as I have found a shop to rebuild the 5 speed and adjust the LSD. I should have them dropped off by Friday.

Re: My new SPL311!!
I just finished stripping the hood this past weekend. I am planning on having the main body of the car professionally stripped to save time. Should be putting the rear end together this weekend. I will post pics of it fully assembled.

Re: My new SPL311!!
I just finished putting the rear end assembly back on the frame tonight. You aren't seeing things those are Koni's. They were sent out by Lou Mondello for re-valving prior to shipping them to me. Everything is going together easily as all of the hardware is new. I am using new grade 8 when needed and stainless for everything else. Been looking at a few different company's to strip the body. I should have one picked here soon so I can start on the bodywork.

Nice. What is the material you are using for the body to frame pads? I've got my pads all cut for #60.
